				   | what do you guys think? every time i take davinci to the dog park, a lot of people will pick him up without asking me if it is ok. i think the reason is because he is very cute still a puppy, but also because he hops around on his back legs when he sees people, and i am wondering if people think that means he wants them to pick him up. ![]() i get a little irritated when many people pick him up without asking me for permission. especially because then little kids also want to pick him up, and i feel strange telling them they can not pick him up when they ask me for permission. and sometimes they don't listen to me because they see all the adults just keep picking davinci up without asking me about it... |

| Thor's Human Donating Member | No, it's not okay. You'll notice I didn't pick him up without permission. ![]() I also feel a little awkward when that happens and often don't say anything, but I think you can just say, "oh, he's shy about being picked up", or "he gets a little snappy if he gets picked up." Now, I'm the treat queen, so I just tell kids they can give Thor a treat.

				   | Yes, its wrong. I would not be happy if someone picked up my dog. 1. I want my dog down and playing/running when we are at the park, that is why we are there... they are held plenty.. the park is their time to stretch their legs. 2. One of my dogs is very squirmy when people hold him that he doesnt know... I dont want him dropped.

				   | no it is not okay and people at a dog park, of all places, should know this. I just tell people who ask to hold them that they are really squirmy and that Hot Rod is a big time mommas boy-which he is and doesn't like to be held by anyone other than me and Maggie is a litte squirmy worm.

				   | No! With all the craziness going on with people stealing, someone may pick him up and run off...you just never know these days!

				   | Is he jumping on them? I'm sure they mean no harm, perhaps you can think of something clever to say to politely discourage them. |

				   | I don't want people picking my pets up without asking. Especially kids. They don't mean any harm but I have a a dog leap from my arms before so I know it can happen in an instant.

				   | While the person is bending over to pick up mine, I say "oh no, you can't pick them up, because they'll jump right out of your arms and get hurt", and that stops it...IATYQ, no it's not alright to pick up your pup, unless they ask, and then you can say no, and why... |

				   | I won't even allow people to pet my dogs, let alone pick them up.
