I KNOW Jodi! That is exactly why I had collars on them in the first place. (Because my neighbors might return them quickly and might not know about microchips.) but since DH was the one that was home with them he absolutely refuses to THINK about collars. We got cat-break-aways but he takes them off when he leaves the house or goes down to the basement to work. Then he won't put them back on. I get home from work and have to put them on myself while listening to him talk about how I wasn't the one there and how he never wants to go through that again. I finally gave up. Fortunately the little town we moved to only has about 300 people in it and everyone has seen me walking the dogs and most of them have stopped me to talk about them so if anyone gets out I'm pretty sure they would be brought back to my house. Traffic is also pretty light with 25 mph speed limits. (Of course that didn't keep me from running over a cat a few months ago!) Sigh.

So happy you got them back safe and sound. I understand completely how upset you must have been.

I could not read your post fast enough.. I was so happy you got your babies back safe and sound. I am alway wondering what would happen if something like that would happen. Thank God for happy endings!

That was so scary for you I know it. I am also very happy you got them all back so quickly.

One of my dogs got through the back fence once when the neighbors behind us was replacing their corner of fence (idiots took 3 days, my husband is a fencer would of had it done in 1)..

Anyhow I drove all over, came home and my son said AVID called. She had a chip, and tags. On her tag was the chip number AVID's number, my vets number and on the other side my name, and number.

Within 20 minutes, if that, of her being gone (and it was dark) this woman found her in her back yard, 1 street over. She called AVID because she saw that before our number. AVID called us immediately after this woman called them!! I was so grateful and offered a reward, she declined.

I am always terrified my dogs will get out. My husband and son can be bad about closing the gates, especially my son. So i check before I let them out but every once in awhile one slips by but because I am always checking while they are out I have not lost any thank God!

No matter how careful we are, sometimes it happens. So tags, and chips are a must!! With the chip you can prove the dog is yours if someone steals it. My friend got her dog back when someone stole it and a couple of months later she saw someone walking her dog.

She confronted them they said no he is our dog.. Well the police came and because my friend had tattooed him all the cop had to do was look and there it was. the idiots who took him didn't see it in his ear....HA

I've had the order form sitting in my desk for months. I am ordering tags TODAY! Thanks for telling us. It's a great reminder.

So glad you have all 3 back home safe and sound! I would be ballistic in my head also! My Fletcher has caused me more grief with running away than I care to admit. Luckily I live in townhouses and he never went as far as the main road and my BF house is on a dead end very low traffic street, because he has been missing for at least a 1/2 hr more than once! My Dexter baby never EVER leaves my side. So he has never run away as a matter of fact even with the door open, if I don't go out with him, he won't go out. LOL

oh thank GOD they were safe and sound and found so fast...i'm going to go put Sadie's tags on right now!! what an awful morning and i'm so glad it worked out ok.

I can't imagine how horrible it must have been for you. Thank God your babies are safe at home. My Scooter always wears his rabies tag but I sure wish that they would make them easier to get off and on. Those little round thingies that you have to open to slip on the tags are terrible.

I ordered my tags from Boomerang tags, and I recieved them on Saturday. I immediatly put them on my 4. I feel much better now that they have tags on. Mine are microchipped also but I want them back immediatly. Now that the summer is here and my guys are out in the backyard with me alot, I need to make sure they have tags if they ever get out.(they better not!!!)

They don't even care that the colars are on them. The tags actually slide on the collar so there is no tag hanging to make noise or annoy them.

Hey jmdt, what size Boomerang tag did you order? Scooter's collar is so narrow I wonder if they this size.

Geesh.......my fingers aren't working today, I meant "I wonder if they have his size"....sorry.
