| Dogs playing? Hello everyone, I have a question. I have a 14 week yorkie (JJ) and a five year old sheltie (Mickey) who love playing with each other. I throw tennis balls or a bully stick and both of them fetch it always ending up where Mickey gets it first but then drops it for JJ to bring it back to me. That's not the playing i'm questioning. The other playing which I have to monitor quite closely is when they jump on each other almost like fighting. Mickey has a soft mouth so he will put it around his neck but never bites down but leaves JJ's face wet. JJ however likes to nip at Mickey's legs. Also this playing always starts with JJ lunging at Mickey's face or Mickey starts sniffing and licking JJ's wee wee. Is this ok behavior or is it too aggressive, and if so how do I stop it. Thank you. |

| It sounds like they are just playing and maybe working out who is more dominant. Since the sheltie is probably much larger then the yorkie, I would watch closely to make sure the yorkie doesnt accidentally get hurt during play but it doesnt sound like either is being aggressive.

| Sounds like play to me! Jackson does this with my dad's male dog, they get on their hind legs and wrestle and box, and nip at each other's feet, face and butt!
