I got a feeling they may have hit him when he had a toilet in that kitchen because when he has had a little accident here he like crawls off to his bed when I find it. I don't want to judge people too much , but why bother getting the little guy in the first place, ill take that back , Im glad they did because now hes mine and Tia is in love with him.

:) I forgot to say when she put on his lead for me to take him he dragged me out of that flat and on the way out the couple said "at least now we won't feel guilty going to the gym in the evenings"

 They sure weren't sad to see him go. They left him for 112 hours and went to the gym!!! I bet to go out to dinner and who knows what else. holding him prison in the kitchen and mad at him???? He's a BABY!!! They were stupid and didn't deserve him. I am so happy Tia loves him. He will soon know that he is loved now and be happy in his new home :)

:) WOW!!! He is a HANDSOME little :aimeeyork fellow!

They look so at ease together... he's such a handsome fellow! Lucky Little Tia!

Have your husband wear a T shirt for a few days and put it in the dog's bed or near it so he becomes used to his scent.

Have hubby stir his food with his bare hand... scenting again.

Hubby should never approach the dog, hold out a treat and allow the dog to come to him for the treat...

And lastly, have all scratch this dog from under his chin, I would avoid a hand over his head for petting until he becomes more relaxed with everyone. Be very patient, he will come around. (If he is fearful when this is done overhead)

Most important: Say "What a good Boy!" The "W" word gets their attention quickly and makes it more special than a plain 'Good Boy!'., and say this at least once daily, even if he didn't have a good day. Some dogs don't have a clue and have never heard these words... too sad! But it's a great self-esteem builder for him or any pup.

My oldest rescue took eight months before he bonded with me. I kind of gave up trying and just decided to accept him as he was: a non-bonding dog. So sad... until one day he kissed my cheek. I cried for quite a while.... now I can't get him to stop! JK!

Good Luck with him and wishing you all the best! :D

I agree with everyone. He is submissive because he is so scared! Lots and lots of praise will do the trick, right along with patience. The couple that had him before should be locked in the kitchen for hours on end! ;)

Awe. Poor little guy. My girl Cooper was like this when we rehomed her and I KNOW for a fact she was mistreated by the sorry excuse of a "man" who previously owned her. She has been with us almost 9 months and will not pee if she seeks the attention from hubby. However, if he reaches to her first she sorta cowers and pees a little. However, now she wags her tail now. We did little practices with her at first. He would pet her while I held her, give her a treat, always keep their interactions positive and I was the 'bad guy' in training. :) Good luck to you and I hope your little one feels safe soon.

it is possible but I have a Maltese and she used to do that since she was 8 weeks old. If you called her she would crouch down and pee a little.Or if you picked her up she would pee a little. She stopped once she was about a yr old. She later had 1 puppy and he did the same thing lol.
He is 20 months old and he doesnt do that anymore.
It takes time, love and patience but it is possible that it will stop.

Thank you I had hubby do that this morning with his food.
You know that expression , never judge a book by its cover, well they seemed such a nice young couple .Looking back I must have been blind not to see the signs.
1. what kind of puppy doesn't know his name at 11 mths
2. the obsession with my garden and having trouble getting him in lol
3. cowering and wetting when men touch him
4. havn't cried once about his old owners

The only regret I have is not getting him the first time I viewed him therefore putting him through an extra few days of what he was going through. We travelled 2 hours to see the little guy with Tia and as soon as we walked in he went mental, jumping on Tia laying on his back weeing when we tried to stroke him.I thought he was far too hectic for my little girl.Three days later , I don't know what it was but I turned to hubby and said "I think we have made a big mistake not getting the little guy". Anyhow I rang the lady again and she said she has a 15 year old looking at him later that day:eek: I told her I deffo want him and can be there in 2 hrs . She said ok.
he loved the journey back in the car and funny enough when we stopped off(me needing the loo) my hubby said he was crying for me! Vet check the very next day and the vet said he was around a pound under weight.
When you put all the pieces together it doesn't look like he has had a very good 11 mths does it.

Excellent advice. I have found that putting an open hand over Chipper's head scares him. (He hates to have his head touched anyway. Might be because I have to always wash and comb his beard.) I also tell anyone coming into my house to squat down to pet my dogs. My senior girls were both abused. Squatting and an open hand seem to assure them that they aren't going to be hit. It has taken Cocoa years to allow my dh to pick her up. She'll actually go to him, now, and beg to be picked up. Patience does work. Good luck. ~Joanne~
