Please take in my sick Yorkie...and pay me $1400 ? I belong to a Yorkie meet-up mailing list in the Boston area. I've had my little girl since she was about eleven weeks old and she'll be 11 months old next week, so I'm fairly new but not THAT new. ;) This morning I received this e-mail, that I'm assuming every other member on the list received: Quote:
She included her full name and phone number. This isn't normal, right? This struck me as really creepy. Who asks $1400 for a sick dog who is on a special diet? What is going on here? Should I do anything? This kind of makes my tummy hurt. :thumbdown I mean, when you are trying to adopt out your dog for the right reasons, do you really charge money? And if you do, is it really that much? I know adoption organizations charge money to adopt...and rightfully so. I just can't imagine sending out a random e-mail to random strangers and trying to profit off of a sick dog that I supposedly care about that my supposed other dog is supposedly bullying. I don't like this. Not one bit. |
I wish I would have gotten that note. I would have had a lot to say to her. If she cared about the well being of her little Yorkie, she would find a reputable rescue where he'll get the medical he needs and forget about trying to squeeze some money out of him. Unbelieveable!! Elaine |

Yah that seems a bit odd to me....i mean at this point wouldnt she just want the dog to have a loving home. I can understand asking for some money for the dog..but 1400? Yowza. |
Regardless of whether or not this little guy has liver issues there is NO WAY that she is acting appropriately with that outrageous request of money. Not only that but he should be her responsibility for the rest of his life due to the medical issue that he has. IMHO if she absolutely as a last resort needed to rehome one of the two Yorkies it should be the one without the medical issues. As Elaine said above he should be placed with a reputable rescue in the very least and she should not be trying to unload his for that outrageous amount of money. Maybe she is just trying to make enough money to purchase a new and healthy puppy  |
I can not imagine someone that would want to place their sick baby rather than teach the bully that he can't act that way unless he prefers to spend a lot of time in a pen, I have a MVD dog plus other problems that i bought not knowing he was sick but after 4 months of having & loving him when i found out there is no way i could place him he is my responsability and i will take the best of care of him Micah is one of my loves and will always have his home with me or one of my children if needed |
Since I'm not super active, I really hope a more active member says something about this. I can't be the only person who thinks this is bogus. Edited to ADD::: I spoke too soon. Someone just replied telling her it sounds like she's done a great job with him. What the heck is going on here? What group have I joined? |
Well Good luck to her, selling a sick puppy, I really doubt that she could even give him away. With one that tiny, his problems have just begun. |

It does sound strange. I would let that person know that they should be trying to contact a rescue or trying to rehome their Yorkie without selling it. Asking for 1400 for a sick Yorkie is not right. |

Can you PLEASE tell her to contact either of these two rescues, tell her they have wonderful people and Vets who are very, very experienced with both Liver Shunts and MVD. Sounds like this little guy does have a Liver Shunt or MVD and she should NOT be selling him off like that...He NEEDS special care for his liver issues.... Even if she doesn't want to turn him over to a rescue, they will certainly "guide and help her" Both of these rescues have a TON of Liver Shunt and MVD experience: Yorkies Inc. The nerve of some people! Ridiculous! I would be curious to know if this moron gets any takers. I would think NOT! |
Wow. I am speachless.... I just don't understand. |
Ok, I sent this: Quote:

Others have said what I am thinking. Very sad, for the little dog. Some people should not be allowed to own animals. I guess she figures she can charge 700 per pound. 2 pounds? That is way way small. |
