I agree. In the case of heartworm prevention, the benefits outweigh the risks. I haven't heard of illness due to heartworm prevention. On the rescue application, they specifically ask what brand you currently use if you have pets, if the answer is none...then that could very well be the main reason you are not being approved. I have 2 rescues, and I know that rescues make exceptions if they feel that you are a good match for the dog in question. For instance, I don't have a fenced in back yard and I've been approved for 2 rescues now.
