I just wanted to clarify my statement. I have heard rumors of the AKC registering Biewers as a separate breed on my local news classifieds. I do not know anything about them other than what I have read here, and looked up after reading this thread. So I did not mean to cause offense, just stating what I heard...

Your three babies are beautiful. You need to understand why member's
are questioning you. After all you came on YT and stated you had
designer dogs and got them at 8wks old from a great breeder.
You mentioned also that the breeder told you that the Biewer is being
registered AKC as well. Can you see where the questioning started?
That's what YT is all about.
Picking up wrong info and stating the correct info. There are lot's of
very well Yorkie educated people/breeder's here and you can be
assured if you post something that's incorrect it will not go unnoticed.
Please don't feel your being ambused. That's not true only being
corrected is all.

Not to sound mean but jsut b/c someone has bred animals for 17 years does not make them great. Many puppy millers (no, I am not calling your breeder a miller) have been breeding for just as long, that surely does not make them a good breeder.
I came on here prior to getting my puppies. I learned a great deal of information from these ladies. One thing I can tell you is that they are very passionate about this breed and do get upset when hearing of terms like "designer". IMO no dog should be deamed "designer" it makes them sound like the newest handbag.

I realize what I posted. I saw them for the first time both at 8 weeks. Still to me doesn't justify the stern debate on "ethics." like I was frying my dogs in hot oil or something! if you knew this breeder you would understand that she is that last person on the planet that would do anything less than the utmost for her dogs. I researched a ton of breeders before choosing her and chose her because of the care gives to each dog she owns and each litter she produces. She truly goes above and beyond for her dogs...she is in a class all her own!

ooohhh thats not fair... yes some on here are more technically inclined and feel informing people of the correct ways breeders should be will only HELP the breed and continue their long life span and overall general health.

HOWEVER, I do believe there is NOT ONE person on who here who would not love ANY dog and take any dog in and give it a loving good home. Each and every person on here caring enough to KNOW this breed and be soooo well informed of their nuances, quirks and health would NEVER not have compassion to any living animal (esp dogs) even if they did not have good registry.

To the OP, I know sometimes it feels like an attack on your breeder... do you know the history of the Golden Retriever? Well the Yorkie is the #2 most popular dog breed now. This means that there is a HIGH demand for them. This means any Tom, Dick or Harry can breed and make money selling yorkie pups. This also means that in order to pump out more pups for more revenue that cross breeding is going on, pups too young to breed, breeding runts with runts for ultra small (as they refer to them as 'teacup yorkies') is running rampart. When this happens, the world/nation as a whole actually HURTS the breed by introducing genetic mutations. This leads to the decline of the breed as a whole. Yes, your pups and your world may not feel the effects of it, but when you look into the eyes of your babies, imagine there are MILLIONS more out there that have those eyes, but not that life. They are sick, dying younger, on meds, have knee problems, liver shunt, pancreatitis, all bc a TON of not so great breeders decided to cash in on a TREND. This trend will fade and when it does the world will be left with a breed of dog that is only a shadow of the greatness it used to be. LOVING your dogs, and placing them in good homes to good people does not make a person an ethical breeder, it does not make them a bad person though, it makes them a kind person who perhaps should be more aware of their breeding practices and what is best for this breed of dog.

So yes, have fun here, post pics of your gorgeous pups, join the fun threads, but do not turn a blind eye to the truth of the matter. I understand you not wanting to talk about that 'technical garble' and that's ok, you don't have to, and I am SOOO SORRY that your post turned to this. I had an idea it would when I first read it.

I hope that my words do not offend you at all... they are meant to explain the seriousness of the compassion found here. :)

I didn't catch everything that was said here. Are your dogs bred with another breed, or are they full yorkie to your knowledge? If they are full yorkie, did any of them start out with black/tan hair, and then turn white as they aged?

i didn't say you should tell your breeder how to do her job, i simply made a suggestion that you could relay the info to her (which you clearly did). and it is not my personal opinion, it is the YTCA standard ... i have no opinion on the matter, i was just trying to be helpful....

as the one who gave incorrect information in the first place, it seems strange that you are so upset with jackson25 for calling out your breeder under those circumstances ... if you recognize that the YTCA standard is correct, i don't see how there is any argument over this :confused:

I hope you didn't think I was meaning you at all, I was questioning the ethics of your breeder not you. I can tell you love your dogs.:) But you must know that other people who aren't as knowledgeable, will read this, so we must inform them of what is right & wrong!:)

IMO You are wrong! It does justify!!!!! Biewers are not AKC (like you said) AND 8 weeks is to young no matter the law (how convenient to change the ages btw).

You have been dearly misinformed!!

But you see, no one here does know this breeder. We only knew what you were telling us and we didn't know that you had mistaken the ages you got them.

I realize this thread has taken a turn you didn't expect. Please try to understand our point of view in wanting to educate everyone, and that was the intent of a lot of the posts on your thread today. They weren't so much directed at you as they were to any newcomer to the breed who may be looking for a puppy and who may be reading this thread. There have been many sad, tragic stories of pups brought home way too young from very poor breeders (this statement is not by any means talking about your breeder or your babies), and many of us have suffered the hearbreak right along with the new pet owner. We take advantage of our opportunities to make sure no one else ever has to suffer through that pain again. I'm sorry your that thread seemed to be one chosen to deliver our message.

A while back there was another new member who used to say ugly and cruel things like that :(

No one is talking about her dogs. They are stating the facts that her breeder is not an ethical Yorkie breeder because of choosing to mix breeds to make and sell puppies and letting them go at 8 wks old and to have been doing this for 17 years and claiming to be doing it for the betterment of the breed.

I want a teapot! My Aiko is only 3.5 pounds, and I am terrified of stepping on her! We finally had to get her a bell for her collar.

If we don't say anything we don't learn.;)

I've been following your thread. Let me begin by welcoming you to YT and hope you stick around. The forum is comprised of different personalities, but theree are a couple of things we have in common one is the love of animals. Another is a passion for the Yorkshire Terrier Breed. Some of us more passionate than others.

I will contradict your one statement that there isn't a President of Yorkie Protection......Yes, there is; his name is Carl Yokum and he lives in Tennesse, and is the President of The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America. The Club that is the protection of the breed and standard, it is a club with stern advice and opinions.

This forum is not only here to share our stories but, obtain education and help.

Me too! Without this forum, I wouldnt know that you can spay a dog while pregnant! And getting it done is probably going to save my Aiko's life!

I just hope the OP realizes no one is trying to hurt her OR her breeder. We just want to clarify any mistakes so that OTHER people have the facts straight and correct so they may make an informed decision! NO MATTER WHAT THAT DECISION MAY BE!

Teapot heck! I have a 35 cup coffee maker.......My (grandson's dog, but I take care of him) Hobbs is the most gorgeous representation of the breed. Beautifully structured, healthy, wonderful temperament, great color....he just grew too big......

LOL!!!! I bet he can run with the "BIG" dogs!:rolleyes: I love them all big and small!!!:)
