Pet store selling a puppy a 5.5 weeks! Isn't that illegal??

They have a Pets R Us in St. John's as well? This one is in Stephenville. It makes me sick that pet stores sell pets, I wish they just sold supplies, and not living creatures. I really don't know how owners sleep at night.

WOW!... we had a Pets-R-Us here in San Antonio, at first they sold reg & salt water fish and birds... then they started selling puppies... we would go there for the fish... well no wonder their puppies looked so sick and in poor health... they must have been from a puppy mill or something... I would feel so bad for the puppies in that store... they looked so sad... they are out of business now...the store is... but I found out that the guy that owned the chain i guess if thats what it is... he does the pet expos that are held here every month at different locations ... I reconigized him b/c we went. My daughter likes to look at the animals never bought a puppy from this guy but OMG I didn't realize that he was or is like a puppy broker or something like that I don't know the right word for that... I didn't know pets r us was a "chain" pet store... we don't have pet stores that I know of in san antonio... just pet co and petsmart... they don't sell puppies just exotic animals and fish and birds... I hope your friend or bf cousins gf gets some good advise and hope her baby does good...

If that puppy is already 2 lbs at 5.5 weeks isn't he going to be a really big yorkie. Does she think she bought one that will stay small? Mine was 2 lbs at 12 weeks. And that puppy does look really fat, is he pooping o.k. I know mine looks sorta fat if he doesn't poop twice a day.

exactly... and some of these puppies are only 1 week old?? Why does a pet store have such young puppies?

I think your bf cousin bought a Morkie not a purebred yorkie, after looking at the pictures of the morkie puppies. But he is a cute little guy!

No, It's definitely a yorkie that she bought. He is either older then she was told, or he is going to be a bigger guy. She was told he was a "teacup" but she is aware he isn't a tiny! I noticed a lot of the pups on the site have very plump bellies as well.

I couldn't find any info regarding the legal age to sell puppies in Canada. I did send off an email to No Puppy Mills Canada to see if they could provide me with any info.

I am almost positive that there is NO age limit as long as they are able to eat and drink on their own!! The animal rights for NL are horrific....I KNOW what I am talking about!! If an animal has a person stick up for them there(besides it's owner) he is one very lucky animal!! Wow and Stephenville????!!!! I'm not even gonna touch that topic when it comes to the animal's rights! There is a SPCA located on the West Coast of NL and the only time the poor animals there get any attention is if the hold an open house for fundraising, the place there is ran by volunteers (my daughter was 1 of them)But other than that, the animals there are always alone unless they are getting fed or medicine!! It's rediculous!! The city had a removal of an oil holding tank or bunker, whatever it's called, right next to that shelter, a few summers back, and the better part of that time the poor animals were inside probaly scared to death with the noise of sheet metal falling and machinery working away! It sounded like a massive thunder storm! When my mom called about the situation they told her in a nice way to keep to her own business, as long as the animals has food and water, nothing can be done! Ohhhh the stories those animals could tell!!
