| Update on petco-riley Hello, how is everyone. Riley is just great.I woke up this morning to find him laying right beside my head on the pillow.I did'nt know he could jump so high .I took him to the groomers .She could'nt save any of his hair .She told me he was scared to death of a brush comb and clippers .And to brush him everyday to help him over come this. When i picked him up he was so happy to see me.The groomer ask me ,You just got him ,I said yes ,She said well you can't tell it.He acts like he has always known me .I guess that's just his sweetest. Here are before and after the groomer. THANKS AND HAVE A GREAT DAY |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | green eyes normally means they have a silky coat...but not a for sure tell...as far as things at petco for skin and hair...hmmm i myself have not tried anything from there... what i would recommend for you is to find a good pin brush that has no balls at the tips because that could cause breakage....i myself own several madan brushes...you can get those through a member here on YT...her userid is mimimomo here is a link to her for sale thread.... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...shes-sale.html but since you don't order online i am not sure how that would work...maybe you could send her a money order or check.....good luck! and it is good practices to groom them daily...after the first few tries they will get use to it...i bath mine every 5-7 days..brush them daily if possible...even brush their teeth since yorkies are prone to dental problems..

| Lots of people on here swear by virgin coconut oil. You can get it at a health food store. Does wonders for healthy skin and hair. Also, salmon oil. I see you are from Tn. Me too. What part of TN? Welcome to YT |

| I guess you could message it into their hair and skin and wrap them in a warm towel. I would do that right before a bath. I would not use the salmon oil though -would be stinky this whole process would be messy too, I don't think I would do it if they had lots of hair. Someone on here said coconut oil rubbed on the hair (while dry) and left on was good for flea treatment, but I have never heard of this before and I would be afraid the oil would rub off on furnature and carpets. But, most on here give it orally. I think start out with 1/8 teaspoon each day and work up to 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon. Bonnie just licks it up. She thinks it is her treat for getting her hair brushed and top knot put up. |

| Adorable! I remember getting all that puppy hair off Jackson and it was definitely nice. Less mats and less brushing. He was happy.

I was going to say that it looks like you've got a lil bed mate now and you might want to get some stairs for him so that he won't hurt himself jumping down.

| I would be careful about putting added oils in their food...there are a couple of threads on YT about members wondering if the extra oils caused upset stomaches or pancreantitus. If you have him on a quality food his coat should show it. If he is dry it could be because the winter air is cry. I did have the vet tell me to get DermCaps from Petco for my Riley who had dry, itchy skin right after we got him from the breeder and after about 3 doses he was fine...it was a regulated dose and very short term. I think sometimes they go through the itchy stage when transitioning from the puppy coat to the adult coat too. |
