| Paranoid? So we were at the park and an elderly lady carrying around a bag of dog treats and wanted to give my furbabies one. I took them from her bc my bf thought it was a good idea and thank goodness my babies are very picky and won't eat treats until they are at home Once we were past the lady I then told the bf we weren't going to give them to them, he just laughed at me but there are some sick people out there! what if they had poisoned them or something?! I just didn't feel comfortable giving it to them, I feel like it's like letting your kids take candy from a stranger on a day that's not Halloween . Was I being over paranoid, what would you have done??? |

| I agree with you! You can't be too careful now-a-days! It's not worth the risk. We have too much time and LOVE invested in them! |

| I would never let my girls accept treats from a stranger I don't care if it is paranoid or not. Better to be safe than very very sorry. Like you, I equate it with my children accepting treats from strangers. They weren't allowed to do it either. I think you were wise to be fearful sad as it may be.

| I know what you mean ... I fully understand it. But an elderly lady may not be able to have a pet. And she's probably on a limited income (who isn't these days?). And she still found the funds to buy a bag of dog treats for strangers ... to be nice, to make contact. I would thank her for her kindness and thoughts, but advise her that my dogs have food allergies to so many grains that I can't accept her offer. And then thank her once again for her kind offer ... So it's a lie! Mine aren't "allergic" to anything (so far!!!). But they're finicky about their treats (they're a tad bit spoiled ), so I could get away with it. Some people deserve to have their feelings hurt/ignored; others, well ... not so much. Just my opinion and how I would handle it ... |

| I never allow it, either. I just tell people she's on a special diet.

| I am like that too. I hate those darn treats at pet smart that they give out. It is like I wonder how many hands they touched before handing them out. I think you can't be too careful these days.

| I don't blame you! I would never ever give Lady any treats from strangers. There are just too many nuts out there. |

| I would just thank her ever so much, take the treats and give them a toss when I got home. Our Vet. always tries to give the girls those dried round chicken treats and I keep reminding her that those come for China, and I'm not comfortable with that.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Roxy grabs the treats from the bank & pet store in instantly throws them down onto the floor or cart. Just cracks me up. She used to good treats not that junk! She acts completely insulted. lol

| I'd do the same or explain that Ellie has allergies and can't have them (totally true for us). I hate it at the pet store though when they try to give treats without permission. Shouldn't employees know better???

Senior Yorkie Talker | I don't think you're too paranoid at all, there are too many unknowns taking something from a stranger especially to feed to your pet. I think if you wouldn't let your kids have it you shouldn't let your dog have it either, they are our kids also!
