| I Want To Cry,back From Specialist With Cookie I dont know if I posted this or not but I requested a Bile Acid test for Cookie and the results were high. Fasting normal range should be <10 Cookie has 138 After feeding it should be <20 Cookie has them at 13.7 (normal) If either of these is above 100 then they refer you to a specialist that does Exploratory Surgeries and Biopsy of the liver. Here's what happened today at the Specialist: Well we took Cookie to the Internal Medicine Specialist today. Basically I paid her $211 for her to tell me this : Ultrasounds are not very accurate in finding shunts and the best way to find a problem in the liver is exploratory surgery/biopsy to see what is actually wrong with the liver. They plucked his ears, ear drops and that's it! Why would I need to hear the same F#! thing that our vet told us and then pay $211 for this . She said before I refer you for this surgery ,that I should get another Bile test done. If the results come back 100 or higher then we need to go ahead with surgery. She doesnt even do these surgeries , she reffered me to another specialist down south! I am going to get another Bile Test done. I know someone fromYT that has a daughter that is a vet technician at specialist hospital in my area. They are booked weeks in advance but she is going to see what she can do and will take care of us. I didnt know her daughter worked there! I broke down and cried when she mentioned that her daughter works there. Also this specialist told me that if he doesnt have a shunt it's probably something called Micro something Dysplasia ? If he's diagnosed with that ,there is no surgery that can help. Changing his food is going to be extremely hard on him because he is such a picky eater. I know he's going to get so skinny, that's gonna kill me to see him lose weight. No snacks, very low protein food. She told me to keep feeding him the same dogfood but not the treats I gave him like ,cheese, ham until they know exactly what is wrong with his liver.I could burst into tears any second . I calm down and I'm ok and all of a sudden I start crying. I am going to try and get that vet credit care card for expenses like these. I am going to be making some outfits, hello kitty stuff and 100% of the profits are going towards these vet bills . I will let you guys see whatever I list through ebay. My head is not thinking too clearly this week, please forgive me if I don't make sense sometimes. Genie |

| Thank you everyone. I am clearing my head because for the last few days I've been feeling awful. I am getting new Bile Test done to confirm the first test. Then I will be taking him to a specialist in Fort Pierce ,near us. I wanted to thank Jennifer (Taje) for mentioning Care Credit.com When we got Cookie, we financed him and we got this credit card called Care Credit to pay for him. I had no idea until Jennifer mentioned it today that care credit can pay for vet bills. It's a credit card/health cardl I dont know how the petshop my husband got Cookie from got us approved for this card to purchase Cookie! When I called the card company they told me that you CANNOT buy a dog with this card, it's only for health payments! Well I paid off the card a long time ago . I cut all my cards after paying them off and only kept one so my biggest worry was finding /borrowing money to pay for these bills. The prices are way too high. Depending on the area you go for test ,the prices vary greatly! Over here a Bile Acid test cost me $85, West Palm Beach they said $135. Consultation here $86 at West Palm Bch $122 . So if I need to pay for any vet bills I can use this card and pay it off slowly. I can't worry about the costs now.I am planning on making some dresses and hello kitty stuff. 100% of this is going towards his bills. He is taking a nap by my feet and has been a real baby today. Well he treated him like crystal glass today. People were giving us strange looks because we were singing to Cookie at the Clinic today. Yes we are " that family" that talks to our dogs and we also answer for him in a baby voice I will post more after his next appt. Genie |
