				   | Hi, i'm going to view a 20 month old fourche terrier (westie x yorkie) tomorrow. He sounds & looks a delightful bundle of fun! ![]() Do you think he would be okay with rabbits & cats? I own rabbits & a cat. Also, barking, do fourche terriers have a habit of barking a lot? Any other information on this zany breed would be excellent! Thanks in advance. |

				   | Westie's are known to seriously attack and kill rodents or small animals. Perhaps being mixed will change that but Yorkie's were bred for the same reason (rodents) and they are both Terriers. Do you have a picture? He sounds cute.

				   | My Westie, Breezy, is adorable. But she is a KILLER and she is fearless. So I would be very careful. Breezy has killed several birds in our yard. Fortunately we have not had any furry creatures or snakes in the yard. |

				   | I love my Ringo too (Westie) . . but he would kill any rodents, etc that come into our yard. I would not trust him with rabbits either. That's what they were bred for and weren't yorkies bred originally to kill rats? |

I don't think this is a breed sweetie. It's either a mixbreed or a crossbreed. I agree that both breeds that it was mixed with are "ratters" with natural instincts to hunt. I think the cats would be ok but not the bunnies. Plus the bunnies don't have the defence mechanisms that cats do.

I have a neighbor with a lil yorkie, too, and she caught and killed a baby bunny in her yard.
