small update
 
I called the vet at noon. i talked to one of the vet techs and she was still waiting to go into surgery. They wanted to make sure her kidneys (or was it liver? i forgot) were all cleaned out first. They told me her stones are pretty large. The Dr will do the surgery today, but they didn't give an exact time. It's almost 5pm here already so hoping they are going to call me soon. *fingers crossed*

You're not on so I'm hoping you're out getting Keichi. Please update us when you can!

Hope Keichi doing well, and hope they didn't find any stones in the kidneys. Bless you for taking care of this little sweetheart!

The vet said Keichi did really well with the surgery. They said they could not believe the size of the stones they found in her. but said she is like a different dog already! They are still keeping her for one more day bc they are waiting for test results to come back to check to see if there is no cancer in the uterus. i really hope there's no cancer, she's only 3 yrs old! If all is well she will be coming home tomorrow morning (they are open 7 days a week believe it or not).

question though... don't they remove the uterus when they spay? the previous owner said she was spayed but who knows.

That was my understanding also... Google search turned up:

Glad to hear she is doing well!

That's just scary that someone would lie about their dog being spayed or have the vet lie to them or however it went down!

She is in good hands now! Let us know when she is home safe and sound.:)

I spoke the the state director of YTNR and she said there was something going on with some vets not actually removing the uterus during spay, I guess just the ovaries or cutting the tubes or something like that, so the dogs still had a risk of cancer. :(

Now that's scary. So Keichi had her tubes tied? I hope the vet gives her a clean bill of health and she can come home.

No, I meant the YTNR director told me she has known of some vets who have done that, but likely is not the case here (but it has happened). I will ask the vet when i pick her up. I'm sure when they did the surgery they could tell if she was or not.

But yes, she is like a new dog they said, she must be so happy, after living with that much pain for so long

I just saw your post. Congratulations on such a beautiful little girl, and thank goodness you found her and got her into the hospital. I am sure she is going to be so happy to be free of that horrible pain. What a wonderful thing you have done for this precious little girl.:thumbup:
