HELP - Bear hates the crate :( Bear is a happy (9 week old) puppy - doesn't bark at all...except when we put him in the crate for the night or to leave the house. He starts "crying" right away and then yipping and barking. He barks/yipps and cries off and on throughout the night - we feel very sad and are not sure what to do. Advice? He has only been home 5 days. Sandy

Part of it might be because he was too young to be taken away from his mother and siblings. Have you tried leaving the radio on low for him, or a ticking clock to simulate a heartbeat? You could also put a used t-shirt from you in her crate with her. That seemed to help Bandit when he was a pup.

If none of the above works, consider an xpen and using piddle pads until you outdoor train Bear.
