| Am i going in the right direction? before i start my story i want to go ahead and say and suggestions are welcomed. i guess i'll give you a little background first......my lhasha (koko) who is 12yrs old is well old, doesn't like to be messed with, has arthritis hip problems etc. my terrier mix (cracker) 6yrs is playful little on the hyper side can be protective/jealous then i have nala my 4mth old yorkie my situation is this...since i've had nala we keep a baby gate up in the hallway to keep the dogs seperated we bring her around the other 2 on occasion my oldest dog doesn't like her and never will she doesn't like the other dog just tolerates him. the terrier will play with her depending on the situation. if they are both in the floor they will play a little but we have to watch them if he jumps in the chair with me or mom and nala tries to get up there or tries to play with him he will growl at her would probably snap but he hasn't had the chance. we try to get them use to each other but its really hard b/c most of the time you have to hold nala and she doesn't like that at all. as long as we hold her around koko she won't mess with her but if she gets away from us and starts jumping on koko, koko will bite her she's tried nala is just too darn fast lol. i guess my question is once nala is a little older will she know that when koko or cracker growl or snap at her to leave them alone?? i know the time will come that they will "tie into it" b/c koko and cracker did a few times and he finally learned to leave her alone. nala is just so hyper right now and wants to play with them so bad she can't stand it but she wants to bite and jump on them. |

| my moms dogs are great with toby, except on the rare occasion when they just dont want to be bothered, at these times they snap or growl (never intending to hurt him, just to scare him) he is now five months old and he still thinks that this is just another form of "play time" for his entertainment.... so when she snaps, he barks at her to provoke her more.... it is quite funny realy, he just doesnt have any clue of what is play and what is not.... im sure this comes with age, but i guess five months isnt old enough |
