| Most people use it only as a size reference and do not mean any harm by it. They are trying to say it is a very small dog and will stay that way,

| I haven't read any of the replies, just fyi... I find it quite odd that they would do that. You would think that a good rescue would be all for promoting education about the fact that "teacup" is typically used just for marketing. However...that could be the easiest way to describe them, and maybe they figure it will get more people to foster and adopt. But still, you would think they would stray from using that... When it comes down to it, "teacup" is just a word, kinda like "teeny" or "itty bitty" or something, so I could see the side of using it, though I probably wouldn't...

| There are a lot problems with rescues too. Many people get small expensive dogs from the shelter and sell them for a high price. They call them rescue so people feel better "rescuing" the dog. I mean some of the prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!! It's really hard to trust anyone nowadays, it's quite sad... |

I don't know what you consider outrageous, but take a look at the following link that will give you and idea of rescue adoption fees. If you go to a thorough and reputable rescue, you will be getting a fully vetted pup and will not be getting any surprises. Yorkie Haven Rescue Adoption Fees

A reputable yorkie rescue would never use that term...no matter how much attention it brought. It would be the attention they did not want anyway.
