| Whar does it mean if yorkie ears are still down at 8 weeks old? I am hoping that people can help me from their experiences. A puppy I am looking at still has her ears down at 8 weeks old. They do not look like they are starting to stand up. Does that mean she will probably have big ears for her size? Will they have to be taped to stand up? I am hoping to get a healthy, well-bred puppy with well- balanced ears, head and body to her size. It seems that most of the puppies by 8 weeks old already have their ears up. |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | some don't stand ever then there are some that needs help to stand (shaving and taping them), some stand on their own later but to be safe i would help them stand. there are other factors that contributes to if and when they stand. like teething, how thick the leather is on the ears and what not....to help them stand i would follow the instructions on this website... Jon-An's Yorkshire Terriers (How to train Yorkies ears to stand)

| Sasha's ears were still down at 8 weeks. I can't remember exactly what age they were completely up at but I'm gonna guess around 4 months or so they were almost completely up. |

| Castor Pollux's ears started standing at about 3 months, but one at a time he looked kinda silly for a few weeks until both of them started to stand. |

| Let me just say..I love floppy ears. My baby's ears were down at 8 weeks, but were up by 10 weeks and she does not have big ears. However, my Moka's ears were always up and look them! LOL.

| I think there's still time for the ears to stand. Make sure the hair is trimmed on them because that can weigh them down as well. Buddy had one ear up and one 1/2 way up at 14wks. The one that was part way down stood up on it's own later. Either way these little buggers are adorable. |

My baby is 9 weeks and her ears are still down. I shaved them but have not taped them yet. I don't want to hurt her or pull out her hair so I am a little scared. I have Jo-Anns tips but still nervous, lol. From everything I have read so far on YT about ears, It seems each yorkie is different and most seem to have their ears up (if they are gonna stand) by 4-5 months.

| Maybe your Moka was related to my late great Barkley. If his ears could stand, any ears can stand. When I got him at 11 months, he was extremely neglected, so I doubt they got any help (shaving, taping, etc) in getting them to stand.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Roxy's ears stood up on their own about 3-4 mo old. First one ear, the other about a week later. I didn't know about the shaving/taping, etc then. I wouldn't have been terribly disappointed if they hadn't stood up, & loved the one up one down. But they both made it up on their own.
