If You Knew of a Yorkie in an Abusive Situation... what would you do? Let's say you don't know the owners, but they live close to you. |
Id try to get all my ducks in a row meaning...documentation, video if possible, etc then call the authorities needed, and put in for an adoption as soon as the poor Yorkie was removed from the situation. What would you do? |
I don't know. Beat the crap out of the abuser probably. |
Yes I would report it. try and get a second witness and report them. |
A report is a must! Poor little thing!!! |
I agree! You have to do something but make sure you have proof, documentation, and everything you need! Of course I would rescue an elephant if I could ;) |
I have always felt that to know an animal is being abused - to know it as fact - is to be morally bound to do something about it. How intrusive those measures grow I think then becomes a personal decision. (After believing for over ten years that I was destined to be a vet, I chose another career, strictly because, after helping out at a clinic, I didn't think I could restrain myself around abusive owners. I can just see someone bringing in an injured pet, and me "visiting" upon the abuser the same injury inflicted upon that helpless creature, then getting arrested, going to jail, becoming notorious.....oops, sorry, got distracted. :p ) At the very least, I'd call the appropriate authorities. If you are in this situation, StewiesMom, I wish you luck. It's not a comfortable place to be. |
Definetely report them. At least call and let the authroties know that you suspect whatever and it can be at least looked into! |
Well....I think you know what I'd do!!!! :D Reappropriation can be a very good thing! |
I think i'd do what Elizabeth did! :D well, Elizabeth, I see you just posted lol! |
I'd get as much physical proof of the abuse and report it. or call the RSPCA and have them investigate it. |
I would immediately report them . |
I would work quickly and quietly and get all of the documentation I could get and then report the abusers with the evidence. I would be afraid that I would have only one chance to save the poor darling, so I would try to be as thorough and quick with the documentation as possible. |
I think like everyone else has said,,, get all the info,,, and document itall.and Yes report it,,, If it is legitimate,, then they will handle it,,,if not,, hey, better to have tried and be safe,,rather than NOt try and something awful ends up happening. How bad would you feel then. I love to watch animal cops,, and would LOVE to have that job,,, BUT,, I know I would loose my cool, and end up choking someone,, or degrade them on their stupidty... But, SOME people ASK for it! ~~ I just dont think the fines and penalties are ENOUGH for what they have done. |
I HAD to report a neighbor who had a dog with a reallly bad skin problem and he was curled up in his yard waiting to die...I climbed my fence and took pictures - emailed them and reported the neglect asap - with the location and cross-streets etc. The pictures got them out to save that dog within 2 days - The Houston Cops ROCK in my eyes - they acted fast and did NOT share my information with the home owner - they just said it was reported by someone but no names were mentioned....not that I cared... because that little white dog was in such bad shape I wanted to scream at them - but the ASPCA did stress they don't share who tips them off. The more information you gather - the faster they act. Pictures if you can get any help alot also |
I also would report it. I could not sit back and know that abuse was occuring wether it is a child or an animal. Yes get as much documented evidence as you can. |
I think I am going to have to do what Elizabeth did. "Reappropriation". These people are cops -- nothing is going to happen to them if I "report" them. |
cops !!!!!! holy crap . they should be shot with their own gun.....i would what ever i can to get those pet outta there. |
I live in a smaller town and in the 2nd poorest county in Ohio. I could report all I wanted, and nothing would get done. :( Kinda sad but it is true! I would have to have some pretty damning evidence to get someone in trouble around here for puppy mills or animal cruelty. Although, I would still report, and keep on and keep on and keep on. I just cannot fathom how anybody could beat or mistreat an aminal???? |

Most people do NOT get "in trouble"....if you saw the pictures of the white dog I reported - you would feel PHYSICALLY SICK and those people just simply surrendered the dog stating they couldn't afford to take him to the vet - yet they had just bought their KIDS this HUGE Jungle Gym that took up their WHOLE BACKYARD - and they have a big backyard - that thing had to cost upwards of 500 $$$. All that with a dying puppy living out there ...they didn't even get fined but the dog WAS SAVED and that's what counts !!!! |
what the hell kind of a world do we live in! for goodness sake, this the united states of american. it makes me sick to hear that people can get away with harming an animal... any animal...oprah has to be contacted..... |
Oprah bought her dogs from a puppymill, so I don't think she is going to listen to us. |

Ok so here's what you do now, get as much evidence humanly possible to convict them, when you think you have enough contact an attorney and talk to them about your options, then report it to The RSPCA or other major investigative animal cruelty companies. these people need to be stopped!!! :thumbdown |
yes, of course I would report it, but I don't think the wheels of justice turn fast enough, so I'd probably try to get the Yorkie out of the home. Ok, I admit it, I'd probably steal it if I had to and risk getting arrested! Now I'm not giving that advice to anyone! But they are so little and so defensless I couldn't imagine not just grabbing the poor thing and running as fast as I could! |
If you know the dog is abused, to heck with reporting it. Just go get the dog by any means necessary. I did this once. I was just going to take it (yes, steal it). However, that wasn't necessary. I knocked on the door. Told them I knew that they were neglecting their dog ei. not feeding or watering it and could I take it. Low and behold they gave it to me. Of course a few months later they wanted it back but didn't get him back. Now he is safe and happy on a farm with regular feedings and lots of love! |
god bless you for that... |
Call the authorities IMMEDIATELY!!! It could be life or death for that dog! :( |
I would tell you to report it as well...but not only that I would tell to also get others around you to report it too...if the authories see that it is not just one complaint but rather many complaints maybe they would react faster!! This is the field that I want to go into after I graduate, so I am always on the lookout for cruelty cases and what I can do to stop them!! |
What? Why, I can\'t imagine why someone would want to harm a cute little yorkie. Wait, I\'m having flashbacks of the abuse my CARPET has received. LOL But seriously, if I knew for sure, someone was abusing a yorkie--or any other dog--I would do my best to get that animal out of that situation. I think people who intentionally hurt animals are the same jerks who hurt people. |
