| help please - pro and con list for new pups?? I am waiting to bring home a new pup from the breeder to join my pup, age 6. I wanted a little girl, and there is one there and she so far isn't growing much so its not likely she will make it to 5 - 6 lbs like my current girl pup is. its early days yet, she is 16 days old, but the 2 boy pups in the litter are growing much bigger than she is so far. There is also a 1 yr old boy (not neutered yet, but thats easy enough to look after) that is now available - he was going to be a show pup but now won't be. I am completely agonizing over the decision between whether to bring this little guy home to us, or to wait for the little girl pup to reach 12 weeks and come home with us. My decision is to bring home both!! But thats not a possibility (according to my husband...I would totally do it...my love of pets is how I came to have 4 cats, and one yorkie, with another on the way...but my husband really feels one more pup is our max). based on this info, one female yorkie age 6, 4 cats, can anyone offer advice or pros and cons to both options? also, is it "easier" to mix a 12 week old with a 6 yr old dog, or the 1 yr old? adding a male better than bringing in another girl...any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!

| Puppies, who can resist them. If it were me, I would go for the 1yr old only because the puppyness is mostly gone. The chewing, biting and jumping all over things. Since older dogs don't like this from younger puppies it may be easier to make the transition with the older one into your home. It certainly would be easier on your existing pup. They might bond faster because of it. Whatever you choose good luck to you. |

| My only thought would be how the 1 year old will react to cats. Whatever your decision, I wish you lots of luck.

YT 500 Club Member | ide pick the older boy my only other dog is a 3 year old border collie and she is so annoyed with my 12 week old yorkie because shes to inmature for her. I think it would be easier to have an older dog that can go outside and romp around with your girl a puppy you have to keep indoors more so they dont get trampled in the playing. basicly what im saying is the older dog would be a faster companion as where the pup you would have to wait for it to grow up before it could really play well with her

Donating YT 30K Club Member | If it were me I would go with the 1 year old boy. He is adorable. I had a foster pom puppy in December and she was so high energy. My girls 2, 4 and 5 were not happy.

| You know, I always would have said go for the puppy but after reading so many posts on here about bringing home a puppy with an older dog I say for sure go with the boy. HE IS STUNNING!!! The widdle girl is precious too but if it were me.....I'd go with the boy. Either way you will be happy and you need to think and make the decision that you feel is right in your heart.
