♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | need advice please Im so excited and nervous because Im meeting a lady this afternoon with a 1 year old yorkie she wants to sell. I really need your advice guys.I rang the advert and he sounds perfect for a playmate for my 18 mth old Tia. Problem is he is not neutered yet which if me and Tia like him will be done straight away. Is it too late at a year old? I mean will he hump her or mark the house? Cant wait to meet him, she says he is a handful.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Was he every used for breeding? If he was the chances are pretty good he will mark. I had one nuetered after a year old and he never marks but he was never used for breeding and it was before I started. He was never around a girl in heat. Most of the time he does not even lift his leg to go outside. Sometimes he will hump things like his stuff animals but only every once in a while.

| I think it depends on the boy. I adopted Jordy from rescue when he was 1.5 years old and he had been used for breeding. He NEVER humps anything, but he does occasionally hike his leg indoors (mostly when it's bad weather out). Belly bands are great if he does want to hike or mark, and because Jordy was still so young I think it really helped train him, too. I think you should go meet the boy and learn a little more about him, and don't let these issues stand in the way - they can be fixed and he can be re-trained if needed. I'm so excited for you!! I can't wait to hear whether you get him. Good luck!!

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | thanks for the replies guys , i read them before i met her. This is an update of what happened. I took Tia with me as it was to be her life long playmate and it was her that was going to make the final decision. My first thought was that it was huge , no offence to anyone with yorkies over 20lb! (bearing in mind its not a year old yet and Tia weighs 5lb)The second thing was it peeed over the owner when she put it down! The decider was Tia had her ears back the whole time and snapped at it when it towered over her. Don.t get me wrong it was a lovely natured dog and Tia gets on with all kinds normally, but I had to go on Tias reactions. The owner has other people looking at him so I don't feel guilty. So she is still an only child, but she seems happy enough and if shes happy so am I lol

| The poor dog probably has submissive urination. My puppy does that sometimes, although she is getting better as she gets older. Is the owner getting rid of the Yorkie because he grew larger than she expected him to? That is sad, I hope she's not mean to him. Maybe he will be re-homed with a family with young children to play with him. |
