| ![]() When I first brought home Sophie Kate she seemed kind of sad also for a few days. I was worried but someone told me to put myself her in her shoes/ paws. She is in a new place with new big people who she wasn't so sure wouldn't eat her for lunch. You sound like you are doing the right thing by bonding with her, just keep doing that. Crate training worked best for me, it was a process that took me awhile to understand. I would put Sophie Kate in her crate and she would nap for maybe an hour, when I took her out of the crate the first thing I did was take her outside (her little feet never hit the ground). Also I got special training treats that she would get only when she did her business outside (she loves Cheerios that that is what I used). When she did go outside I would have a small celebration, lots of good girls and praise. After she went to the bathroom outdoors I would give her an hour of supervised freedom and play and then back in the crate for a nap. That routine went on for about 2 weeks and when she finally got it I started expanding her free time. Just playing with your puppy and holding /cuddling will help her feel safe and probably bring out the "puppy side" of her. Good Luck and keep watching the posts on Yorkie Talk, I still learn so much from these owners.

| ![]() ALOHA! LOL, I rather be in HI! I lived there for many years. My husband is active duty and we are stationed here in El Paso....I really like it here though. We plan on taking the kids and dogs up to elephant butte for spring break....can't wait to see my Leilah running on a beach (even if its not a real one) lol!

| ![]() No worries -- for the first week or so one of my boys peed and pooped in his crate at night, but he stopped doing that on his own (and now he sleeps in my bed!). Whenever your baby goes on the pad, just get really excited and tell her how good she is and give her a treat. It took over a year, but I finally got my two boys trained on pads! I keep the treats right next to the pad (on a counter) just for a little added motivation . . . |
