| RABIES VACCINATION...at what age? Oscar is 5 months old tomorrow and we go to the vet today for the last of his vaccinations - his parvo/corona and his rabies. At what age have you all given the rabies? Is 5 months too young? My vet seems to feel that he will be safe at this age. Oscar's Mom |

| I think 5 months is plenty old to receive his rabies, I know dogs that have gotten them as early as 4 months and have been fine, usually they say to get them done when you have them fixed, wich usually is around 6 months. |

| I have given my boys their rabies at 5-6 months. The only thing I would be concerned about is giving all the final puppy shots with the rabies. I know the vets say it's ok, and I didn it too but if Oscar is on the tiny side, maybe I would split up the puppy shots and later on go for the rabies...Theresa & The Boys |

| I have read 16 weeks is when the rabies vaccination is given. I would trust your vet on what he feels is best regarding vaccinations for Oscar. I do not have Schatzie's records in front of me but I believe it was around 16 week mark.

| My vet did not give Gidget rabies with the rest of her shots. She went back in 2 weeks to get the rabies. I would be leary about all at once being so young and tiny. I did with my dalmations but there are a bigger dog. |

| Well I did get the shots before I read all of your posts. And I am afraid that Oscar is paying the price. We can't touch him and when he moves he cries! It is just breaking my heart to see him this way...his little ears that are always up are lopped over and he has the most pitiful look on his face. I gave him half a baby asprin and am hoping for the best. I put him in his crate just to keep from touching him and him moving too much. They gave the rabies in one front shoulder and the parvo corona in the other front shoulder. He was 4.6 pounds today...I hope this is temporary. Thanks for answering tho...keep Oscar in your thoughts...he is really miserable. Oscar's Mom |

| Ouch, poor little Oscar. I am sorry he is suffering due to his vaccinations. It is very common for these Yorkie pups to feel puny a day or so after receiving their shot(s). I bet he will do much better tomorrow. Please send us a post tommorrow if you can to let us know how Oscar is. Schatzie sends puppy hugs!

| I'm so sad that Oscar isn't feeling quite himself! Carter received his rabies shot at 6 months when he was 2.2#. It didn't slow him down a bit and wasn't even sore or swollen. I'm so glad that I didn't have to go through the worry that others have or are going through.
