| He is really soooo cute! When you get a dog that has had another home, I think sometimes you really have to retrain some things they do. The previous owner's situation may have been different and they may not have put a leash on them and maybe let them out into a back yard to go potty. I personally don't take ours out without a leash because they are so small. I don't want a big bird to pick them up!! Does he know how to sit on command? If so, maybe he'll calm down after you work with him a while and know what you want. If not, its a good place to start training. I noticed you are in Locust Grove, Ga. I am close by in Hampton, Ga. Good Luck!! |

| Hi Neighbor He will sit on command "sometimes" when he is not being distracted by other things such as where Stedman, Daddy or the boys are LOL! If I can get his attention he will sit. I have also started to put Stedman in his room for a little while every afternoon and work with Rusty alone on training like sit, stay, lay down. I don't think his other family used a leash but to me that is the only way to go. Because like you said I am so afraid of a bird getting him (and we have huge vultures that fly around because our house backs up to 500acres of Wetlands) and also because we go camping alot and I want him leash trained so he won't have culture shock the first time we take him to a campground. I pretty much think his other family just babied him and didn't really expect him to "Do" much other than be cute...which don't get me wrong is perfectly fine! I just like my dogs to listen to my command and be well trained so we are working on that!! I am hoping he starts to pick up habits from Stedman who is wonderfully trained. He already is his little shadow. Wherever Stedman goes he goes! It is so cute!!!
