| My lil Teapot, short and stout.. i know this subject is a horse that's been beaten to death, but how big do you think he will get? I love that he is a sturdy little thing, right now he more closely resembles a bear cub than an actual dog. The only thing I'm worried about is him accidentally hurting Bella when they play; he's done so a few times already. However, in his defense, most of those times were probably due to him biting down too hard. I don't think I've ever seen a yorkie puppy as big as he is! Here is his past and current weights as follows: 3 weeks (11/12/09): 1 lb 6 weeks (12/7/10): 2 lb 9 weeks: 3 lb 11 weeks: (1/7/10): 3 1/2 lb 15 weeks: (2/5/10): 6.2 lb Any insight or ideas would be appreciated very much! Anyone else have two yorkies/small breed dogs whose range in size varies just as much (Bella is 7 lbs) or more? ETA, I am aware of the double the weight at the 12 week rule; however, i've heard that the accuracy is not always 100%. Therefore, I mainly would just like to see what everyone else has experienced. TIA

| Although i don't own two of them, Coral's sister (who is owned by my parents) and her "boyfriend" are both twice her size. She is 6lbs and they are about 12. They play great together and she can definitely hold her own!

| Jackson followed the double 12 week weight perfectly. He weighed 6lbs at his 12 week vet visit and now at over 1 year, he's 12lbs. He was 8.6lbs at 15 weeks. He didn't really grow much after like 6 months of age. As for size difference, one of Jackson's BEST little doggie friends is an almost 6lb yorkie, and he is double her size so it should be fine.

| I have one that is going to be a bigger girl, too. We have nicknamed her "yorkzilla." Her growth rate was phenomenal early on, but it does seem to be slowing down recently. Here are her weights: 7 weeks: 32 oz 8 weeks: 36 9 weeks: 38 10 weeks: 50 (that's an increase of over 30% in just one week!) 11 weeks: 58 12 weeks: 72 (24% increase from previous week!) 13 weeks: 74 14 weeks: 83 15 weeks: 91 16 weeks: 97 17 weeks: 104 18 weeks: 113 19 weeks: 116 (7 lbs 4 oz) She's really sturdy, but very skinny. If you double the 12 week weight, she'll top out at 9 lbs, but I wouldn't be surprised if she turned out larger than that.

| Bijou hasn't followed the 12 week rule. She was 3 lbs at 12 weeks and currently at 7 1/2 mths old she's 7 lbs and she's thin. I suspect that once she gets over the colitis she'll gain another pound or two.

YT Addict | Derby is just under the 12 week rule, but only by a pound and a half approx. he fluctuates between 10-11 pounds. I think it's to say you aren't going to have a small size dog. it's ok though, once he grows up a bit he'll be fine playing with other one. he's just very much a puppy right now and they play a bit rough at that age (with sharp puppy teeth!). he'll start to lose them soon.

| lucrbc- Thanks! That does make me feel lots better. Bella definitely can too, I guess she's been my one and only baby girl for so long I fret way too much. Britster- Your Jackson is just ADORABLE! I think his weight is the perfect size OwnedbyJezebel- Rocco had one of those immense growth spurts too, but not in one week That's really amazing! Is she still 19 or so weeks? At what age can I expect Rocco to start slowing down? I was thinking 6 months to a year. Gennies- I love the name of your little one Forgive me for my ignorance, but what is colitis? DerbyLane- You're right, it's definitely the puppy teeth! He gets way too excited in the middle of their play, and bites down too hard. He stops right after though, and leaves Bella alone for a minute, so that's good. I heard that Yorkies lose their teeth; when should I expect his to come out? They're all so pointy, and tiny, is that normal? Thanks everyone for your replies! I'm sure he and Bella will be fine, the trouble is just convincing my husband that 12 lbs or so is not bad. (He worries about Bella, too--she's such a Daddy's girl )

| Bellanrocco: Yes, Jezebel is just turned 19 weeks on Friday. When I weighed her last Friday, I expected to find that her growth rate had slowed a bit because she just wasn't as hungry. She was still eating well, but left more kibble in her bowl. I suspected that she probably wasn't growing as much so she needed less food, and the weigh-in confirmed it. Who knows if slow down is permanent, she could very well have another large growth spurt. After all, if you follow the growth charts, a pup that weighs 2 lbs at 7 weeks should top out at around 6.5 lbs, and she is already beyond that at 19 weeks ... so I have just stopped trying to guess what will happen.
