Molly is a rescue and lived with several dogs and cats in her previous home. I feel that she loves having all my love and attention for herself, and i dont think she would like to share. I do look around at other rescues though, but so far have managed to talk myself out of adopting one! |
I only have one Yorkie, my Husband and Princess our all white cat. I'm very happy with just one she can be a handful all by herself. We love her very much, but there has been a couple of times that I would like to get another one. BUT, Princesses nose is already bend out of shape so I think another one would be out of the question. |
we too have only one yorkie, but we also have a chi thats about the same age. we would love to add another one to our family, but we travel by plane (long distance)at least twice a year, with two (one yorkie and one chi), DH and I can each take one into the cabin. if we ever add a third one, we would have to leave one of them home which we would hate to do~ |
We have only Prince and I love having only one, although I do feel quilty when we go to work and have to leave him along, with the tv. I would be nice for him to have some company... |
Sophie Belle is an "only Yorkie" but she's not an only child. She's got 3 cat brothers to keep her busy. But she does know that she's the Only Yorkie! She rules the roost here! |
I only have one, by mistake, and it's not fair for him. But two sure won't work for me. I'm stuck. If Frisco ever makes real friends somewhere and doesn't need me anymore, I think we'd both be happy. I'm an unfit dogmother :( |
In the beginning I always liked the idea of having just 1 so I can take everywhere with me but then I added 2 more and it got a little difficult lol |
one is the one YUKI IS THE ONLY ONE... :aimeeyork:aimeeyorkI WOULD GET ANOTHER...BUT I THINK DOUBLE OF EVERYTHING...:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
I only have one. I am afraid to get another because I might not stop! |

By the way, since we have all the singles in one thread, can we share tips on keeping them entertained/busy/etc when the humans wear out? At my place, sometimes there isn't enough humans, the cat isn't much fun, the yard isn't fenced, the dog park is 40 minutes away, I'm not real familiar with the neighbors, and I'm running low on hiding places. Mostly when I stop playing the dog goes to lay down and that really bothers me, but I reject an ongoing guilt trip too because I'm doing all I can to be a dogmother. Is there more to lonely yorkie life than chew toys? There's only so many hours, and the dog wants all of them. Is that just baby stage? What I have so far: 15 minutes - hiding his toy deep inside a crumpled blanket, or wedging it in a tight spot. 30-45 minutes - He has a favorite teddy which he is trying to mate with, that's his own game, it stays in one of his beds, and he usually knocks himself out after a good romp with her. 30 minutes - I also put his kibbles in those Wacky Squirrels and that'll occupy him for a good half hour. 1-2 hours - (requires supervision) - In fair weather he can amuse himself out in the yard for a good hour or more, rolling his ball down stairs, pouncing it, digging, hunting bugs, hiding biscuits, fooling with a pool of water, except in my case I have to keep constant watch and herd him away from the driveway intermittently. Along with all the things I do that he can join in, and all the walks and bike rides, play and grooming and training and visits, there's still hours need filling. |

I have one little girlie...Zhoie and she sure has our hearts. I think often of getting a 2nd. Strickly for her to have a companion. Then I think she is selfish with her toys, so not sure if she would like sharing....ummm NOT. Then reality sits in again, I work from home. We have a routine down pat, we go into my office every morning when I say "let's go to work", we take a mid morning break (play), lunch (play) and mid afternoon break (play) and she is good until 5:00...which she promptly reminds....time to quit.....AND play!!! Given that, I'm so lucky to have such a well mannered, not noisy, laid back girl. I'm just afraid to bring in another and rock that boat. |
Winston is my only one. I am totally dedicated to caring for him and giving him all the comforts of life. My husband and I are retired and he is our baby. We can afford everything he needs, but I don't know if we could do that if we had two babies. I do not have a fenced in yard so it would be difficult to have two in the house all the time and have to put both on a leash to go outside. Winston is only 18 months old and he requires alot of attention. He goes for two long walks everyday, weather permitting. He has never been sick at all and he totally loves being with mommy and daddy every minute. I just don't think I have the energy to handle another one. If I was younger, then maybe. |
No, cuz I always had 2's. I have a chihuahua also but she is very jealous and attacks my yorkie who I only have had for a week. Mind you, yorkies have been in my life for 30 years. My vet said that after a week my chi should not still be vicious and I will either have to seperate them forever or rehome 1, hands down that would be Lindsay. She is really vicious, sometimes seet to my Tessa. My daughter Paige might take her Sunday but she is thinkining of getting a yorkie from my breeder within the year but a bigger 1. My grandsons love Lindsay and she had a rough start in life so I think she will give in and have her yorkie too. Please pray for me. I am so stressed and feel so guilty. Kaji is a singleton also. The best part of having him and him only is always having him by my side. He goes to the grocery store, the movies, out to eat, on date night with boyfriend, and on vacation! Everyone in my family agrees, he's part of the family and can't be left behind! I do however think of the instances when he is home alone. I wish I had a second for him to run around and play with. Then I think of how much our life would change and he wouldn't be my travel buddy anymore. I'm selfish and I want my baby boy by my side always! |

We only have one yorkie, Jasmine, which is 1 year old. We also have a black toy poodle, Prissy, who is 7 years old. They are our sweet little girls, wouldn't know what to do with out them. |
yes, Rio's an only child. My DH and I have thought about getting a boy for her playmate, but we always revert back to wanting her to stay an only child. We spoil her to pieces, she goes everywhere with us and is never left alone. My DH drops her off at my brother and sis-in-law's house in the morning before work and picks her up after work (I work full time too) so she has become such a well socialized dog. At her babysitters, my sister-in-law stays at home to watch her 2 year old grandaughter, so Rio is very good with little children. I can't see myself being able to love a second Yorkie equally, as Rio is my love and I would think it would be unfair to the second one. So for now, it's just little Rio.... but you never know what the future will bring! |

yes, I pray we have 18 years with our Rio! I love when I hear about yorkies that live that long! |
Armani is my one and only and there would not be enough words to describe my joy if I had 18 wonderful years with her. She makes my heart sing! |
just 1 for me:) |
I had one forv 14 years, but he died a couple of years ago. I now have three, why? Well when I just had one she seemed so quiet and lonely, so I got another and they're great. Then my daughter came to live with us and got her own. So now we have three. Ahhh!! bliss!! Hugs Shirl x x |
Ive decided that I want a herd of yorkie's, much like the Queen has a herd of corgies. lol I would hate to breed my little Hollyhock but just to have several at one time the idea does exist. |
I have 1! I only have Sugar. I'm very happy with just one, I can put all my attention on her, and I don't think I can handle 2 or more now. :D Besides...think about double the vet bills, foods, supplements etc, gosh I'm so dizzy! So I think I will just have 1 for now, but I'm not sure few years down the road, lol! Yorkies are addictive!! |

Sophie is our one and only. She gets all of our attention. We tried two but that didn't work out too well. We tried adopting another female but she had aggression issues against Sophie so my niece adopted her as a only child. Now everyone is happy again.:) We'll probably just stick with one. |
