Does ur cutie do this? When Duncan is eating, he's really busy and tired I guess. He gotta hold one piece of his food out to living room from kitchen to chew on it. After he finish ONE piece, he rushes back to his bowl to get another piece. One piece at A time. How about ur cutie? |
Oh yes, we take each piece and lay down on our favorite rug to finish it. Too bad by the time she lays down, it's already time to get back up again! Silly silly.. |
Eating on the Run I think our Yorkies have the right idea . . . eat on the run, burn calories and keep that trim figure. Bella does the same thing and sometimes she hides 2-3 kibble in a special spot (in full view) and goes back later for a little snack. They always keep us smiling, don't they? |
omg, ur Bella is sooo funny.~ sure they keep our life much sunnier~ Quote:

Crosley & Camden keep their heads in their bowls the whole time they are eating, but not Wrigley! She has pieces all around her bowl that she goes back to and eats at the end! It's funny because Camden will just randomly walk by and steal pieces from her! |
My Katie does it with dried food but not wet. Hugs Shirl x x |
Max will take a bite, go look out the back sliding glass door, then come back for more. He'll repeat that cycle until he's done. Aren't their little personalities so funny :D |
Both my girls do the one kibble at a time thing and I think it's the cutest! |
Hot Rod entertained us with that when we first got him. He and Maggie still do it every now and then but not as much as at first. It is amazing the little quirks they have. Now they do it with treats though. They will snatch the treat and run to the other side of the of room before they feel "safe" to eat it. lol |
Maddie does this:p She gets her piece, runs to her spot, arranges her blanked turns around, lays down and then eats her piece of food, and then back to the kitchen for more.... This is why I swear yorkies are not normal dogs;) So cute. |
Pixie is the same way. But, she'll take a mouthful of dry food from her dish and take it to the carpeting and then will eat them up one by one. She'll do this several times until she has enough. :aimeeyork :animal-pa |
woof! My Zena does the same thing with dry food. This behaviour is not particular to Yorkies however; I've seen two Pomeranians do the exact same thing! ~woof! |
All 4 of mine do this! My oldest boy Peanut will sometimes grab a mouth full and run to the area rug then my oldest girl Daisy will stand there waiting and steal Peanuts food. It's really cute! |
Same:) Snick has to eat on carpeting, now we just keep his dish at the edge of the grandroom where the carpeting starts:). He gets his raw on the living room on a rug as well. So funny!! He won't eat on the hardwood. He even has to take his carrots, bully sticks, after potty treats onto carpeted areas if we give them to him on tile/hardwood. I think the carpet makes him feel secure???? Smiles- Snick & Viv |
I can imagine the scene~~~ hahahahah Quote:

Ya, u r rite and remind me, Duncan does it only to guess what both dry and can food.... Quote:

Jasmine only does that with Prissy's food. Jasmine eats her food then she goes over to Prissy's crate and steals Prissy's food one piece at a time and takes it into another room to eat it, I guess if we can't see her then it is ok, then she will come back and get another piece. She will also hide Prissy's food, one kibble at a time, for later. It is so funny because Jasmine and Prissy has the same food. I think Jasmine just wants it because it is in Prissy's crate. LOL She is really cute to watch. |
Sydney does the same thing. She sometimes will play with a piece of dry food and toss it in the air. It's funny to watch, but it can take her a while to eat. I had to start taking her food away after 15 minutes if she was playing. |
lol Pixie loves to give kisses as she is eating. usually me but lately she jumps up on my husbands recliner and kisses him after she takes a bite. It takes her a while to finish eating and my husband and I get lots of kisses. I should video tape it:D |

That's how my Teddy eats!! If we are in the living room he will take pieces and bring them in there and then go right back to his bowl!! He's so worried about what we are doing haha. But that must be a Yorkie thing because my mom's Boston Terrier doesn't do that haha!! |
Both of my girls do this! - I didn't know it was so common!! - They both takes pieces of food from there bowls and bring them on the living room carpet to eat they will not eat on our tile floors, sometimes Lily grabs a few pieces for her and Mia -- she's such a good big sister! :p |
Billie goes between her bowl & her bed, one piece at a time. And up until this post, I thought it was unique to her!!!! how funny to read all the posts, great thread topic, i had no idea that this wasn't soley a Billie thing! |
haha, my boys do that too! Joey will grab a few kibbles, drop them on the carpet, and eat them in the hallway by the bathroom that their food is kept in. Tank will take just one or two at a time, but also take them to the hallway, haha. The little quirks our Yorkies have...but you gotta love them!!! |
