| Help with yorkie long hair, topknot? Hello Yorkie Lovers, Thank you for reading this! I need some advice. My little girl, who is now 7 months, has a gorgeous coat, real show quality, however, I dont know how to handle the hair in her face. I brush her daily and she gets baths weekly, but with her hair so long now it covers her eyes, do I just put it up in a bow everyday? Does that hurt my pup at al? Do they sleep with their hair up? Any help with the hair in their eyes is much appreciated! Yorkie Hugs, Lauren

| If her hair is that long, you will have to put it up in a topknot. Lady wears one 24/7 for that reason, but I redo it everyday. Adding a bow is optional, bit of course I'm a little prejudiced in favor of bows! Here is a great topknot tutorial: Topknots shared by Linda Grimm and Maria Lelinho starring Rocky! Many Thanks! |

| I do the same thing with my girl. Hailey wears a top knot everyday with a bow and I just fix it when ever I need to. She does not seem to mind it one bit.

| Jacie keeps a top knot 24/7, we use scrutchies or bows. Sophie doesn't, her coat isn't as good as Jacie's and I have a hard time keeping them in regardless of how tight I make them.

| Another alternative is to braid it. I like to think the girls enjoys the relief from a topknot every once in a while. I know I can't do a ponytail everyday without it putting a strain on my scalp after a while. Have fun! I love Yorkies with a full coat! Post pictures with her hair done soon please

| Missy needs her hair tied up 24/7 too. When we're just lounging around the house or at night, she wears those soft cloth goodie bands. When we go out, she wears an elastic band and bow. I am going to try a braid tomorrow. I think that sounds like a great idea for a little relief on her scalp, especially at night.

| Thanks LadyMom for sharing the top knot tutorial. I have favorited it. My dog Navy's hair is about 4" long now and it hangs in her face. I have a difficult time putting up her hair because of my long nails and I always worry maybe I am hurting her (she doesn't cry). Nevertheless she some how has it out within 15 min. I must not have it in tight enough? My two yorkies have very diff coats.

| I usually put Maggies hair up in a topknot in a band everyday unless I'm running late for work. If I run out of time, I'll just use a soft cloth band as well just to get it out of face. I've tried to braid it but she rubs her head when I do that??? She will not eat if her hair is in her face, lol. I have to put it up somehow before she will touch her food. She is such a pincess. lol As soon as Hot Rod's bangs grow out, I'm going to start putting his up everyday also. Both of them get their hair out of the bands and a head massage once we settle in for the evening for tv watching.
