Alittle tired of hearing it Like my baby isnt a pure breed or something. All i hear from people is............shes sure BIG for a Yorkie--i thought they were suppose to be smaller. First off- i live in a fairly small area and i have only seen 1-2 other yorkies here, so i dont know what there comparing her to? Maddie's a sleek,9 pounder--yes compared to a 3-4-5 pounder she is big. But to me she is average size, and PERFECT !!!! I dont know why i let it bother me, but i just needed to vent. Its like she is looked down on:( |
First I have to say she is completely adorable!! I hear the same thing about Duke and he's 7lbs. As long as you love them, and they are happy what else matters!! :D |
Let's hear it for TEAPOTS!!! Bentley is living proof you don't have to be tiny, to be adorable! |
Thankyou! I love her with ALL my heart, i just hate when people talk in a negative way about her  !!! maddie and i have something in common, were both alittle on the teapot side:p |

My boy Jimi is 10 lbs. :D Whenever I go out people always ask me what kind of dog he is.. when I tell them yorkie it is like they don't believe me. "Umm.. are you sure? He is probably a silky." Don't let it get to you! Your baby is gorgeous. |

Maddie is beautiful and who cares if she weighs 9 lbs the main fact is that you love her and she is healthy. I think Yorkie's come in all sizes. some long and trim some short and round and some with long legs and some short legs. Kinda like us. People tend to get stuck on the size of a Yorkie being small I think 9 lbs is still a small dog. So blahhhhh to people who say negative things about your 9 lbs dog. It would be worse if you underfed her to keep her small. I have heard of this and it sickens me. Don't get me wrong there are small Yorkies who were supposed to be small and they are adorable. There are also large yorkies who are meant to be larger and they are adorable as well. I guess it is all genetics. |
Mine is 11 pounds...she doesn't even get big yorkie! It's more often: What is she??? But I wouldn't trade her for the world! She makes me laugh with her antics and silliness. She makes my 7 pounders look tiny! So I have the best of both worlds!:D |
I think a lot of people don't realized how rude they can be when commenting on someone else dog. Once, I was at the pet store with Lucy and those 2 ladies pass by and comment about Lucy: "oh she's mix for sure she got a long tail". I didn't say anything but inside my head I was laughing at them... When you don't know what you are taking about, it is sometimes best to keep your opinion for yourself... Your dog is too cute for word... so don't worry about those idiot. Have a great day. ;) |
Maddie is beautiful and 9 lbs isn't very big!:p |
Awww, she is adorable JUST the way she is!! |
Your baby is beautiful, and obviously all yorkie! :) I wish Missy would grow that big or bigger! I get asked if Missy's mixed all the time because she has a full tail and floppy ears. I think Missy's the cutest yorkie ever, but I might be a little biased! :D |
You all have made my day!!!! Thankyou!:hug: |
She is beautiful! I too have teapots and have had the same thing said to me so I understand, but just as their are small and large people their are small and large Yorkies. Just more to love :D |

ETA: Maddie is beautiful and perfect in EVERY way!!!! |
If you care to explain to the rude people, simply tell them that Yorkies are like people: you have your "average" sized ones, but you also have folks who are smaller or bigger. They're still HUMAN - just a little different in size from "average". Maddie is still a Yorkie, she's just a little larger than "average". Then finish off your lecture with, "I think she's just *perfect* for me! If she was smaller, she'd break easier!" ;) |
You just have to try and egnore peoples ignorance. Alfie is a healthy 7lb, Rosie 5.5lb but he gets over looked all the time, makes me angry too sometimes. I suppose were luckier over here though in that alot of yorkies you see are above standard weight so people are more accepting. |
I know what you mean. Some people can be so insensitive! Plus, "Dumb people ask dumb questions." Your baby is a gorgeous YORKIE. :) |

I hear the same thing about Lace who is 5.5 pounds and someone once told me Suri was on the bigger side and she was 2 pounds at 9 months.... Just plain ignorance. :) |
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. Abraham Lincoln said it best! ;) |
There all so precious in so many ways. I dont think there is such a thing as a ugly, or to big, to small, ect Yorkie------i think there all adorable |
I tell people ... "You just can't pack THAT much cute into a smaller package":p;) Truth is you kinda can, cuz some of mine at home:), and certainly lots of you YTer's :D have tons of cute in smaller packages! |
I'm with you on this one - I am tired of hearing how big Cissy is @ 8 lbs. And the next comment is - my mother/sister/brother/friend/whatever has a "toy" Yorkie and it's only 3 lbs. I think I'll just remember some of these responses so I don't have to keep biting my tongue! Thanks Ladies!! |
