I know how you feel! Right now I have a 4lb, 6lb, and a 12lb (who should be 8lb.... eek we are working on that) and I am told ALL the time that they are big and they know so-and-so who has a teacup that is a lot smaller than my little one.... That's great for so-and-so... but don't act like mine are any less of a dog because they are bigger. |
Someone posted a thread similar to this, and told the women that she was bigger than average, also. People can be so tackless sometimes. |
I feel you. My moms yorkie, B'anka is rather large to. She has always been on the bigger side since she was about 2. She may even be bigger than your yorkie. B'anka is about 10 pounds or more, maybe. I'm not exactly sure. But she is very big. So dont let it get to you. Your yorkie is perfect. |
9 pounds is PERFECT and hardly begger than the breed standard.... which really is kind of a silly standard nowadays seeing as how yorkies can be 2-25 pounds haha! Mine are 2 and 4 pounds and I wish so much that they were 9..... they are too fragile when they are tiny and there is more to cuddle and play with when they are bigger! Tell those dumb people to shhhhhh!!!!!!! Your baby is PERFECT! |
I know that you said she is average size, but I consider 9lbs. to be a small dog. I have a 9 and a half pound Yorkie and also a 22lb. and even my bigger guy is a small dog. Maybe it's because people are used to seeing 5 or 6lb. Yorkies, but your fur baby is still a small dog (and cute!) :) Tammy |

Some people I get tired of hearing stuff like this from ignorant people. I have a big one and two tiny ones...that are not teacups...so dumb!!! Had to vent too! Thanks |
I have a 7.5 lb bruiser...lol. JJ...My boy was "supposed" to be 4 lbs full grown and passed that at 4 months. I also get all the breed questions. Fact is...I'm glad he got bigger than expected. He is just as cute as he was at 2 lbs, but he can get up the stairs, on the couch and I don't worry about his best friends (my 3 cats) hurting him as much as I did before. |
I heard that a few times when Stella was only 4.5 lbs! So ridiculous. She's tall, but I like it, because she's FAST. Quote:

What a darling face your Maddie has and she is sleek indeed. If soeone sais something ignorant tell them with deep pride in your voice that your sleek Maddie is a teapot and keep struttin. Vicki |
Surely size doesn't matter. We love them big or small. Hugs Shirl x x |

Sully is a whopping 13 pounds and I'm used to the comments. It used to bother me but now I just laugh at them and tell them he's a Porky Yorky. |
I get people always commenting on Lola's ears. " her ears are HUGE! " I know they are big, you don't need to remind me :p It's hard to miss their size so I don't get why some people drag on and on about it when they talk to me  |
I was told my Gabbi would be 5 or 6 pounds but she is a healthy 10 pounds! We LOVE her size. She's sturdy and I don't have to worry so much about her breaking a bone. She has an adorable personality . . . even my husband can't stay mad at her for more than 5 minutes when she chews on something of his... Don't worry about what other people think or say. They don't have a clue and should keep their opinions to themselves... |
