| My groomer relocated! =( Hey guys, my groomer has recently moved and Princeton needs a haircut! Does anyone have any recommendations for a caring, skilled, and not too expensive (I understand you get what you pay for but some people overprice) groomer? Princeton is tiny, weighing only 5lbs. and I dont trust just anybody. Thanks in advance! I live in Astoria, Queens, NY. (Near Steinway St.) I am willing to drive 10minutes in distance. |

| My original groomer griped about Lexie not being still, etc. I was taking Lexie to Petsmart for Puppy Classes and met Maxine who is a groomer there. She does an excellent job and Lexie loves her. Since you are a long way from South GA check and see if you have a Petsmart there. |

| Sorry, it is a bummer to lose a good groomer. If you are willing to come into the city I have a recommendation for an awesome groomer.

| No way I would recommend Petsmart. I have heard too many awful stories and I have seen things that I do not like. I watched a groomer not long ago in my Petsmart turn her back on a pup she was grooming. That is a huge no no. I reported her to the store manager. I am sure there are some good groomers there, but I prefer to go to a small business that has one or two groomers that you get to know. Big corporate places hire so many different people and they are bound to get some bad ones. If you Google Petsmart Grooming Complaints you will find many complaints. There was a thread on YT about someone whose small dog was attacked by another dog. Someone better at searching may be able to find it. My groomer allows me to sit and wait...I will not leave my pups in a place like Petsmart. I would suggest you call your vet and ask for recommendations. Or...if you go anywhere else where there are small pups, ask people who they use.

Sorry, but my opinion stands. You may have gotten lucky. I have heard many complaints about Petsmart. When you go there without knowing the groomer beforehand, you are taking potluck in my personal opinion. Same thing goes for their veterinary services. I would not take a stuffed dog to Banfield. It is a large corporation and there is no way it is personalized service. As I said, I think that some are good, but I would not recommend it. I will not recommend any place that I do not have first hand knowledge about and unless you have been to the Petsmart in her location, you really don't know how their grooming salon is. I still say Google them and see how many complaints there are!

| Here are some links...the first one is particularly disturbing. There are MANY more on the internet! Yorkie mauled to death in Castle Rock PetSmart - KDVR PetSmart in Hot Water Over Dead Dog, Birds and More Pet Smart Grooming Complaints - Horrible customer service

| Thanks for all the input, I dont think I am interested in PetSmart though. I would rather go to a small and "family-like" place where Princeton could get very familiar with one groomer. I wouldn't ask my vet for groomer recommendations either because he does have a groomer come in once a week but I have seen the animals in the small cages in the back after grooming and they don't look too happy. He is a great vet but I would rather bring Princeton to a place specialized for grooming. Armani Alexis.. I am actually only 10mins away from the city, so depending where it is in the city, it is a total possibility. What is the name of the place you recommend? |
