For those of you with boys... I have a pee pee question

I always cut off the pee pee string because I find that it leaves drops on the floor when he walks away from the pooh pad.

Wow I learned something I have a 5 month old boy and had no idea you needed to do this....I always had short haired dogs before and never really worried about it. Thanks for the input!!!

Me too!! I trim Prince's private's hair about every two months, or as needed. Has anyone ever used a comb with a small blade in it to trim your baby's tummy? Prince freaks out from the sound of an electric shaver...I have been using scissors.

This just happened to Winston. His penis was out & wouldn't go back in. I didn't know what to do. I read online it could have happened because the hair was too long or his penis got dry while out. The groomer cut his hair last time he was in.

i cut Gatsby's wee wee hair if it gets to long because he stands in it if he cannot get away from him and when it is long it just sort of falls to the ground and his is about an inch too

I always cut his stomach hair and wee-wee hair, but I never knew it was supposed to be long to direct the pee stream...you learn something new every day

glad i stumbled on this blog because i was just about to cut ziggys peepee hair, lol. it just seemed unnecessary.

btw ziggy still pees like a girl. i mean hes not lifting his leg, hes stretching his whole body. i dont know how girl dogs pee actually, lol but alot of ppl are commenting to me that he pees like a girl. i think its adorable lol but im clinically diagnosed already, so how can i get him to pee like a boy dog? or does he figure that out on his own?

I really think it's a matter of preference, their preference that is! Kaji pees one of three ways.
1) lifts his leg straight up, almost like a cheerleader doing a leg extension.
2) he squats and pees like a girl, he does this mostly if he's going to piddle in the middle of the pad, or in the middle of green grass where there is nothing to mark, like a tree
3) he sometimes does the squat and lift, where he squats but he still lifts one leg up, not quite as high but he still lifts it.
Of all the ways he pees #3 is my fav, just because he sometimes chooses to switch legs mid pee. I think it's so funny he can't make up his mind.

I think this is one of the funniest threads I have read. I have 2 boys, Hobbes 10 months old, he is just figuring out how to pee like a boy, he sort of hikes his leg. My Calvin is 16 weeks old and pees like a girl. I never thought about trimming the pee pee hair, I just wash them. When I pet Hobbes he always rolls on his back and spreads his legs, I call this his Playdog magazine pose. He wants everbody to see his stuff. He has been neutered, my 16 year old son says we cut off his junk.

same here with denzel i keep his belly short because at one time when he learned how to life his leg he would drip on his stomach becuase he was walking and lifting without stopping lol
