You have your hands full, but you'll both be alright! One thing comes to mind right away is that you shouldn't 'chase' your Chloe; she'll always outrun you and she'll count that as a victory. Insofar as her getting out, please, please be ever-super vigilant as these guys are quick, little, and even well-mannered yorkies get tunnel vision and "deaf" when they're distracted. Do whatever you need to do to prevent Chloe from getting out that door! Piper is all yorkie in that she is determined, relentless, and seemingly tireless in trying to get her way (which she does quite often), but there are little tricks. One of our wise and loving YF members advised me to leave the room if Piper refused to quit demand-barking...And as I followed this advise (which worked), I learned my little Piper does not like being ignored--very helpful in variety of situations. And also, along this line, I find if I move from away from Piper as I'm trying to get her attention, etc, she invariably moves towards me. When she comes on command, I never pick her up, but simply praise her and scratch the top of her totally adorable little noggin and half the time, I move away from her first. I don't know if any of this will be of use to you, but thought I'd pass along a bit of what I've learned here and may I once again say with all sincerity, thank God for our wonderful, savvy, understanding Yorkie Forum members! |
