Almost all dogs you get from a rescue are spayed/neutered and all around vetted. When you buy from an individual,it's on a case by case basis. On the subject of the price of yorkie mixed dogs,I paid $250 for Gypsy, and she is a mix between a yorkie and a pekingese, otherwise known as a yorkinese. I'm lucky that she's a very healthy dog with a great temperment. I've seen 'morkies' advertised around here for anything from $250-$400. |

Being your dogs are mixed there is no way you could place them with someone that wants a purebred with papers....... $400.00 is asking too much for a mixed bred dog, when one can obtain a dog from a shelter for about $150.00 |
I'm sorry, I have to agree with those that think $600 is way too much for a mixed breed. I paid $750 for my AKC papered Yorkie. For a mixed breed, I would pay the $50 to $100 that the pound charges - regardless of whether or not it was a "designer" breed. Still a mixed. |
Oh the picture of the tan baby reminds me so much of my Nino when he was a puppy. He is also a chi/yorkie mix. I paid $75 for him plus gas money as I had to drive to Dallas to pick him up. Depending on what the mix of the dog is, I would, (and have), pay up to $400. I think that is a fair price. Instead of the price consider first if the lady will be a suitable home for your baby. Also, if what she truly wants is a purebred with papers, then she is probably 'settling' for your pup and that may not be the ideal long term situation. Your babies are adorable. Lots of luck in placing them in great forever homes. |

Thats exactly what I'm saying i paid and looked for So..... The price I paid reflects all you stated above so why should i have paid any less for those peace of mind benefits ? I wasn't getting a less than expected service than a papered dog. knowing what i knew when i went looking for Lola i wouldn't have expected anything better than what i received and wouldn't have sacrificed my heart for anything less. However i do agree it's not always the case and I'm just hopefully one of the lucky one's but that's what i paid for :) xxx |

No its not silly to pay for a mixed breed if there is a proper breeding program, and the sires and dams have been health tested and are being bred for a purpose other than looking cute. Otherwise and breeding of a mutt is silly to me. And when you get a purebred from a reputable breeder you aren't just paying for papers. You are paying for the breed standard, and a dog that potential is healthy because it has been tested. Not every purebred breeder is a BYB. |

But you have your answer right there, in the way the puppy reacted to the lady. Puppies have a sense about people. I wouldn't have given her the puppy for any amount of money. I'd be afraid the puppy would end up in Rescue later, when she didn't look like a Yorkie. |
Not every purebred breeder is a BYB. I never said they were ! Nor is everyone who mixes breeds. |

Neither are all breeders that mix. |

I'm sure many people won't like that answer, but I absolutely hate the fact that so very many dogs are being euthanized, simply because there are too many dogs, not enough homes. |

He's not in standard in any way shape or form. I still think he could be mixed because of what everyone has said to me, but then I can't pinpoint what kind of mix he could be. He's probably just a poorly bred Yorkie. Just because your pup comes with Papers, doesn't guarantee you anything. It should, and it's supposed to, but look at my Derby. Enough said. |

And there are so many pups in shelters unless you are breeder for purpose and to actually form a breed ("labradoodles" are an example that is on the right track), then you are wasting you breath saying that all people who mix on purpose aren't in it for the money or some other irresponsible reason. |
