I am just curious, the breeder knows he is 4 1/2 inches tall but could not weigh him? He looks 4 1/2 inches tall in the photos from mid Decemeber. The only reason I say is that you have stated you wanted a small Yorkie to take with you everywhere, what happens if this pup becomes over 10 pounds and you feel he is too big? I am still with the anti mill place and if this guy is on the list he os only saying things to make you happy. I can bet you will not get that same nice guy attitude if you call with a problem when you pick this pup up from the airport. I can not believe he is selling pups with flight for so cheap, scary. |
I am not planning on over exercising Bentley or feeding him less. I have already purchased his food, I bought Iams for puppies. I plan on feeding him at least three times a day (any suggestions..is that too little or too much?) and I have bought him treats. A walk a day is enough exercise for him because I will also be playing with him indoors. The sale is complete and what is done is done. I am looking forward and I am going to provide the best possible life for my baby. I failed to do ALL of my research concerning this "breeder" because I honestly did not think to look on a list of people who are guilty of running and supporting puppy mills. I will not abandon my Bentley because of how he was brought into this world. I will just not EVER adopt a puppy like this again. I will work harder to find a breeder close by and do my complete research. I am a HUGE animal lover and the last thing I want is for animals to be abused. No innocent animal deserves that. |
I do want a small Yorkie but I would not love Bentley ANY less if he became bigger. I love all dogs and size is not important. I was just curious about what everyone thought because you all have Yorkies now and I felt as if I would get a good educated reply. |
[QUOTE=yorkiepuppie;2956337]i cannot agree more! as pet lovers, we should all strive to help all dogs. i don't understand why anyone would encourage other people to knowingly purchasing from a puppy mill. WHY!? :thumbdown[/QUOTE I don't know of anyone here that is encouraging anyone to knowingly purchase from a puppy mill . In most cases new members will come and post after they have already purchased. In these cases some members here just want to welcome that person and let them know they are here for them. After all, the decision was theirs and they made it. If they want to keep their puppy it's their right and their business. I know of no one on YT who is a puppymill "advocate" . Many people are unaware of the dangers until they come here after the fact. YT is a good resource for those who have not already purchased to avoid the mills.:animal-pa |

Bentley is almost 10 weeks, not 8. I pick him up tomorrow. What dog food do you recommend? I want to give him the best. |

Your puppy is paid for so therefore I wish you good luck and Bentley good health. Next time you'll know better. Never buy on the internet because your just asking for heartache. Enjoy your puppy and I wish you nothing but happiness with him. |

Okay thank you I will get that brand. I hope Bentley will be a healthy dog, I will do everything in my power to assure his health. I just want him to have a good life, if he had stayed with the breeder...we ALL know his life would be horrible. |

You'll be doing great with the walks and play time for his exercise. And, yes, you should feed him at least 3 times a day (at least while he's a puppy). I do agree that Iams is a horrible food. You might take a look at YT's health & diet forum and go back through some past threads. There is great advice there on foods, etc. Just look around YT and you'll find all kinds of helpful things - from grooming to training to healthcare....it just goes on. I don't think I've said this yet - Welcome to YT and congratulations on your new puppy! I hope you'll post more pics when you get him. :) |

The fact that the OP just unknowingly bought a puppy mill puppy is the reason why we have to keep trying to educate people whether this sale is a done deal or not. There are still too many people who are unaware of the dangers of buying a puppy online. Many people come to YT before they buy their Yorkie. If even just one reads this thread and doesn't make the same mistake the OP did, then it is worth it. We must keep spreading the word and educating people about puppy mills. It is the only way we will ever shut them down. |

thank you for your passion and your determination. thank you for being a voice for the puppy mill dogs and not letting anything get in the way of it. |
THANK YOU for your encouragement. I truley appreciate it. I will post information and pictures of Bentley as soon I get home tomorrow. I'm sure he will be scared and nervous, but I will do anything I can to make him comfortable. I have "puppy proofed" my apartment and I have his toys, bed, food bowls, harness, retractable leash, collar, and crate ready for him. I even bought three books on Yorkies that I have been reading. I also got him shampoo so I can give him a bath immediatly when he gets home. The flight will probably be a long one and he might go to the bathroom on the way here. |
Ladymom - I really appreciate your words. I agree 100%. I was honestly unaware and now I have learned. I will spread the word. I want NOTHING more than for dogs to be happy and to have healthy lives. Puppy mills are beyond horrific. Thank you. |
I do hope and pray this puppy will be ok, no one wants anything else. I'm just sad to know that a puppymill breeder is making money on another sale. At some point people have to stop buying from these people! There are several components to it all, laws need to change, but we as consumers have to step up to the plate and do our research, education and know who we are buying from and not keep these people in business! :( |

That's just ridiculous  |

-Dish of water (they can dehydrate easily) -Damp wash cloth, paper towels, baby wipes (just in case he does go potty on the way) -Nutrical (in case he hasn't eaten in a while. He is a larger pup but you want to be sure he doesn't become hypoglycemic). Most local feed stores usually sell the better quality foods, including Wellness which I saw recommended above. Good luck tomorrow! |
I will be sure to do that! I was also told that bringing Kiro syrup to the airport and giving him some would be great also |

It's too late to worry about where Bentley came from. It's unfortunate that not everyone is familiar with Puppy Mills or online buying but like Ladymom said it's all about educating. I think MANY of us have made the mistake of unknowingly buying from a bad place and this is why NOW we know better. With that said, ERICALEE, I did some online research for you. There are 16 states that cover Puppy Lemon Laws and unfortunately, Alabama is not one of them. I have enclosed a link so you can read about what Puppy Lemon Law means. I have also enclosed a link to NJCAPSA. This is NJ Consumer's Against Pet Shop Abuse. It is a very good site and Libby is very educated in bad breeders and mills. It's not a bad sit to look through. I wish you lots of luck with Bentley and I hope he checks out alright. Please, bring him immediately to the vet. I cannot stress that enough. It is more then likely that he will infact have parasites. Coccidia, Giardia these two are very common in mill atmospheres. Also, kennel couphe, and upper respiratory infections are common. I hope you stay on with us here on YT. It's a great place to learn, show off your pup and make some nice friends. All the best, Elaine http://www.lemonlawact.com/what-exac...on-law-320.htm http://www.njcapsa.org/ |
Thank you Elaine! I will check out those sites right now. I have called my vet to let them know I am bring Bentley to them ASAP. They are prepared and waiting for him. I am greatful to be educated now about how sick people can really be. Puppy mills should be illegal. I honestly do not understand why they aren't in some states. Dog fighting is illegal but this is just as bad. |
