I know I am new here but looking at the photos if they are true to the date, these were taken back in mid December, so a whole month ago. Mine is going to be a lrger one I believe and she is only 4 lbs at near 14 1/2 weeks.

On another ad he has placed on puppyfind.com, he states that the YT will be 6 pounds full grown. That puppy is from the same litter as this puppy. I'm confused..

As a breeder myself, I can tell you that I ALWAYS know the weigh of each of my puppies! Puppy have to be weigh regularly to ensure of their health... So the breeder either doesn't care or have to many puppies to keep track of them!!!

If it is to late for you to back off, I just hope your little guy will be healthy.

I hate the thought of lining the pocket of a puppy mill breeder. Not to mention not knowing the living conditions of the dogs or what you could be taking on, because like it's been mentioned. Their guarantee is worthless if you do have a problem!

So far everyone is concerned with getting her money back and running away from the puppy. Doesn't anyone feel bad for the puppy? Where is he gonna go??
Yes its true that the breeder probably is not honest, or perhaps he doesn't even know what the parents of the puppy look like, but I think it is a bit unfair to label this little guy as a failure.
It does NOT mean that the puppy will be unhealthy or bad in any way. I know plenty of people who bought their pups from stores and their backgrounds are questionable, but they are great looking and behaving dogs.

If the puppy is on the way, and you love the way he looks then stick with him.

I had a 15 lb Yorkie and he was great. You can do a lot more things with a bigger Yorkie, like Hiking, boating, running, biking. All those things I can not do with my current 5lb Rocky. He is like a little kid that never grows up, so I have to keep track of him 99.9% of the time when we are outside. Yes he is a perfect pup at home, but so is a 15lb Yorkie.
So don't let big Yorkie concept scare you away. If you absolutely hate the size of the dog, I am sure you can find a home for him. There are plenty of people out there who want a pet but can not afford paying 500+ for a puppy.

Putting money in the pocket of a puppy miller only guarantees that this puppy's parents will continue to live in horrible conditions for the sole purpose of producing more puppies for profit.

I have decided that Bentley is the dog for me. I talked to the breeder on the phone and was assured he is only 4 and a half inches tall and that he was completely guessing on the wait because Bentley eats way too much. My main objective when I get him is to take him the vet and exercise him to bring his weight down to what it is supposed to be.
What does everyone think of his size now that I found out that information?

I am with on shutting down puppy mills, and it angers me to high levels to think that such conditions exist. I am very anti pet/store/industry myself.

If she was asking for advice before purchasing, then we would all advise her otherwise, but if she paid for the puppy already and the pup is on the way then what else can be done. The original poster obviously cares enough about the pup to come to this forum and she will make a great parent I hope, but if that pup goes to someone else, it can end up on the street or shelter at some point if that owner is put off by its size, which is silly, a pup is a pup regardless of it's size, its not his fault his was born.

Sounds like you have made up your mind so I wouldn't look back but forward to getting your little guy! I think he is getting a wonderful home! You will learn lots here on YT! Be sure to post pictures of your little man. I bet he doesn't weigh 5 pounds either. This may be a BYB or Puppy Mill but that doesn't mean that you aren't getting a great puppy. Lets hope for the best since the sale is complete.

Exactly! We have to stop buying, stop supporting, stop ALLOWING puppy mills to continue! You can help make steps towards this goal by choosing to not buy a puppy from this "breeder."

I'm emphasizing "breeder" because I cannot imagine any reputable person not knowing the exact weight of each puppy. It is so important to weigh them regularly to make sure they are gaining as they should and track their progress. Also, it is highly unlikely that a puppy this age is eating too much or is overweight. Puppies are amazing at eating just what they need and no more. Honestly, this "breeder" scares me to death.

This "breeder" is on the USDA puppymill list. Millers can't be bothered to weigh them or even handle them. :thumbdown

Eight week old puppies are not overweight. The little guy should stay with his mother for another month. You can't exercise him down to a certain weight.

Another way to stop puppy mills would be to outlaw Pet sales in stores, spread awareness of puppy mills on a general scale and give out tougher jail terms for animal abuse. There is no other way.
Its a simple supply and demand theory. Same with drugs, guns and things of that nature.

Your point would have been right on time if the buyer asked for advice to buy or not to buy from a store. But since the transaction has been done, the puppy in question is already sold. At this time I am more inclined to offer support and wish the new owner and her pup well.:aimeeyork

Definitely not! Please don't even think of trying to over-exercise him, or of feeding him less. Puppies need proper nutrition and healthy rest periods. If you don't provide it, you ARE going to have an unhealthy adult. Ladymom, you're also exactly right about the puppy being too young to leave home. He really needs to stay with mom a bit longer.

i cannot agree more! as pet lovers, we should all strive to help all dogs. i don't understand why anyone would encourage other people to knowingly purchasing from a puppy mill. WHY!?:thumbdown
