| blacklight - saw pee spots - ewwwww I had posted a question regarding using a blacklight to find pee spots on carpet, but it got moved to the product forum. I had purchased a blacklight light bulb. Used it in a lamp and saw nothing. Ordered a blacklight flashlight on the internet, used it in a dark room and almost fainted!!!!! I knew there were a lot of accidents when she was a pup, but OMG!!!! What I didn't realize, is that even using Nature's Miracle, the spot will still glow ?????? One of my carpets is light colored so you can see if there is a spot that hasn't been cleaned, and I know she hasn't had that many accidents that weren't cleaned up. Just to make sure, I used Nature's Miracle and another brand, and even after using both, the spots still glow under the blacklight. This is definately not for the faint of heart!!! If I had a crawling baby I would replace my carpet!! Anyone have any ideas that would completely "clean" the spots? Would a professional cleaning take care of it? |

| That's good to know. I guess..?? Maybe I don't want to know what my floors realllly look like I use Nature's Miracle too. So if this isn't removing it I would also like to know a product that does. |

| if you do, try to find the flashlight - I googled it and found one with free shipping for under $14. the light bulb didn't show anything. again, be sure you want to see what you are going to see. I know my eyes just about bugged out of my head. I was never an indoor dog person until I got Maddie 2 years ago. Now I think I know why. I am a pretty neat freak person and this has really got me freaked out. |

| All I can say is I am sure glad I have hardwood. I pulled up carpets years ago, before having pets.(due to allergies) I don't think I could handle seeing all the surprises!!!LOL

| Petco has the Stinkfinder. It works great: Stink Free Stink-Finder Ultra-Violet Light & Flashlight at PETCO As far as glowing after using Natures Miracle, I wait about a week until it is completely dry, then clean the spot with my Spot Bot. |

| Spot Bot With exception to bedrooms, my house is hardwood and tile. I never allow the girls in the bedrooms unless I'm in there. BUT, I do have rugs/runners throughout. Does the Spot Bot do okay with small rugs? |

| Wow. I've never seen that before. Interesting. I'm not sure if I really want to see what it can show me

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I've used 'Urine Off Dog & Puppy Formula'. I don't find the glowing spots afterwards. I thought I had done a great job getting all her spots till I got the black light. Boy did she have surprises for me! Wow!

| I am using Kids N Pets, $5 at Walmart in the soap section. I bought it because it had an Animal Planet endorsement. I'm sold. No glow. One day I'll tell the story of Frisco's pee pad training, I accredit some of it to that product. I just pour it on and forget about it. Eventually I'll do a pass with the carpet cleaner and then there's no sign of anything. I contacted the manufacturer just out of curiosity and he had a few things to add: Mother Nature attacks dead and decaying organic material with bacteria. Bacteria produce enzymes to help dissolve and break down solids into liquids to make them more easily digestible. We have enzymes in our mouth, our saliva and our stomach that break down solids into simpler liquid substances that our body can then more readily absorb. The enzymes in KIDS N PETS are in a liquid form but over time they do tend to collect and settle and will take on a more solid form. That's why you should always shake any enzyme cleaner (like KIDS N PETS) before using. As to the name change, in 1990, when the product was first introduced, the brand name was INSTANT STAIN & ODOR REMOVER. Later we added the KIDS N PETS logo so that it became KIDS N PETS INSTANT ALL PURPOSE STAIN & ODOR REMOVER. The term "Instant" is a descriptive term and is not a term or a brand name that can be legally trademarked. So about 10 years ago we added the brand name KIDS N PETS and trademarked it. We liked the name KIDS N PETS because most of the messes made in and around the home come from our children and our pets! When agitated, surfactant will produce a low amount of foam. But the foam is not necessary for the formulation to work. This is true of all soaps, shampoos and detergents as well. The foam looks good but is not related to performance. Last, the enzymes are not dependent on other bacteria for any additional functionality. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | IF you can catch the spot when still wet - try 1/2 vinegar and water - saturate it ....then step on it with a towel - no spots and no smell. It's way less expensive and never leaves a residue on your carpet |
