| Yes, we did this! Our girl is not a Yorkie, but I wanted to know her breeds. (She was found roaming the streets.) Here is her picture and results. Not sure if the tests are 100% accurate, but we did this one for fun. Vivi, January 2010 DNA Test, October 2009

YT 2000 Club Member | no, i dont think so. I only have one mixed breed.. my Tucker man and he is yorkie poodle mix. His momma was full pred toy poodle his dad was a yorkie poodle mix so I would assume he would come back 75 percent poodle.. however he looks so much like a yorkie its very odd.... all of his other siblings were more poodle like..

| So the DNA place received the cheek swab sample I sent of Winston. They emailed me that I should be able to check results online in 2-3 weeks. I think I will also receive results in the mail, but this was so I could follow the process. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I wouldn't. Once we get our 'pets' - we fall in love (or in some cases - don't) but in my opinion - why would I care ? They are what they are and no test would make me love them more or less. Health wise - don't know - I don't think a DNA test would really offer much information on what is in the lines.....The only thing I can think of where they'd be handy is if a breeder was questioned on who a mom / dad was regarding a puppy. But - hopefully MOST OF US ARE NOT BREEDERS (there's already way too many people breeding) then that really doesn't apply to a average person. ps - edited to add - doing it for fun is totally different. Can't see any thing wrong with that !

| I'm surprised by how many people wrote that they wouldn't DNA test their dogs because the results wouldn't make them love their dog any more or less. I didn't even think of THAT when DNA testing Winston. He's a yorkiepoo and I'm so crazy about him & love him so much that I want to know MORE about him. He's such a perfect little puppy that I recommend him to all my friends & want more JUST LIKE HIM (yes, I know realistically that another puppy would not be exactly like him). So it's more about how much I already love him, not loving him more or less based on his "yorkiness". Last edited by wahawaha; 01-16-2010 at 07:15 AM. |

| I wouldn't do the testing. I talked to my vet about DNA and he told me I would need DNA from the parents to be sure. All 3 are very healthy and I know who their parents are. He did complete blood testing to check for health issues. My big boy is 12 lbs of pure yorkie. His mom and dad are 7-8 lbs. I love them all no matter what.

| I would love to know what Ollipop is. I am pretty sure he is Yorkie mixed or at least that is whatever one else things so thats what we are going with. When we are out we get asked if he is part shounzer (way spelled wrong) so he may be Yorkie/Shounzer. Here is a pic I took of him the other day-

Personally - I'd love to see people refer others to shelters - that's my plan if (in my lifetime) I ever get another dog.....I love my girls but there's just too many people breeding now that's it's like "true" Purebreds are a rarity

| ha ha thanks! When I took him in as a foster, I had to call him something besides punkin and he seemed to respond to Sam's name sooooooooo I knew that wouldnt work.... Then I thought of Oliver Twist being an Orphan.... so Orphan Ollie it is! Then we have since then started calling him... Ollie, Olliepop (singing Lollipop Lollipop), Olliepoppers, Olliepooopers.... and he answers to all of them

| New Member, New Morkie Mom Hello. Just joined this site, as I just got a Morkie puppy, & am interested in learning more about them. My Morkie's name is Zoey, she was born March 9th, 2011. She brings me so much joy & love, & is my constant companion. My children are all grown & gone, now, so she is our baby. We also have a Chihuahua named Cheech & a Pomeranian named Twister. They mostly hang out with my husband. I hope to learn more about Morkie's & meet new friends. Thank you for letting me join. |
