Yorkie Hair Help Hello I have two yorkies and they both have hair problems. My first yokie is my little girl and her name is baby. She has a really nice coat texture it has a lot of shine and it never mats. Since we first got her we have been keeping her cut short but now i want to grow out her hair. I was doing a great job on her and her hair got to be about 5 inches. Then i left for school. When i came home after being gone for 4 months (i live 4 hours from home and have no car) i couldn't believe the state my dogs were in; they looked homeless. I was so angry at my mother i wanted to kill her. My poor baby had lost the shine to her coat and her hair was all oily, from not being bathed and luckily because of the texture of her hair she had no mats. But baxter, his hair tangles easily but i was brushing him daily and bathing them weekly so he had a good coat, it was about 2 inches from the floor. I picked him up and to my horror all i could feel was mats. I wanted to cry. Baby all she needed was a bath and she was fine but my poor nookie (his nick name) need to go to the groomers. I love my groomer, he has been grooming my dogs for almost a year now and he does a great job. I brought baxter to him and he gasped in shock at how he looked, he asked me what happened to him and i told him my mother. 3 hours later baxter was done at the groomers, all his hair was gone, they cut about 7 inches off, the only thing they could save was his face, his head looks really big now compared to the rest of his body. My mom saw him and felt really bad because she just thought i was over reacting and my grandma wanted to cry. Ok i leave for school again and come back about 3 months later and once again my dogs look like strays so i bath them and notice, that baby has had major breakage on her and baxter too, his bangs our a mess i cant even pull them into a pony tail anymore and the hair around his nose is all different lengths. I've decided that in july i will be moving out of student housing and getting an apartment because my mother isn't taking care of my babies. Now to the heart of my problem (and i applaud you if you've read all this, sorry) baby hair texture is so silky that it doesn't mat but it grows really slow, and baxter hair grows really fast but it tangles really easily if its not combed through. My dogs are my children and i love them and i was so proud of them and i like showing them off. Is there anything on the market that will grow their hair out, keep it from breaking, give it back its shine, and keep it from matting. I want them to be back to normal by july. Baxter is really active and he loves to play so i wont grow his hair out as long as before, but both him and baby i love them having long hair on their face, i would love for it to be about 6 ince, by july. I know i will have to use multiple products, and my groomer is prepared to use anything i give them. Im changing their food, they were on science diet small bites (my mom was feeding them kibles and bits) but im going to put them on eukanuba yorkie formula. Sorry this was so long but i was venting because i couldn't believe my mom was being to careless. |
