| Harris co canine dies in pursuit A Harris County Precinct 4 canine died by an unknown cause in north Harris County tonight after it went into the woods in pursuit of two burglary suspects and never returned, Assistant Chief Mark Herman said. Deputies responded to a reported home burglary near Rankin and the North Freeway around 7 p.m. One suspect was taken into custody, but two others eluded police through the woods. The dog pursued the men and failed to come back from the wooded area, Herman said. “It's my understanding the dog was found in the woods, deceased,” he said. The constable's office will send the dog to Texas A&M for a necropsy to determine cause of death. Officials still were searching for the suspects late tonight. I LIVE HERE IN THE HOUSTON TX AREA AND HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS WITH POLICE CANINE OFFICERS. THEY ARE TRULY PART OF THEIR FAMILIES AND OUR HEART BREAKS FOR THE FAMILY AND FOR THE HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPT. I HOPE THE KILLER OF THIS BRAVE DOG GETS THE JUSTICE THEY DESERVE AND PAYS THE ULTIMATE PRICE FOR THIS HORRIBLE CRIME. GOD BLESS THE FAMILY. THE OFFICERS NAME WAS BLEK. REMEMBER HIM AND HIS FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS. ALSO PLEASE PRAY FOR BALOU, HE IS OUR CLOSE FRIENDS CANINE COP AND HE IS HAVING SOME PROBLEMS WITH HIS BACK. THANKS PAM

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm in houston and saw this on the news. That lowlife choked the poor dog with his bare hands. All I kept thinking of when listening was that K-9 OFFICER Blek managed to take a big chunk out of the guys important body parts. They did catch and charge them but not for animal cruelty - they called it 'interference with a police animal' which to me - sounds mild. Good for houston though - that's a few more scumbags sitting in jail where they belong....now - there's thousands more to go. Hope their cellmates are animal lovers with names like 'Bubba'

| I'm just outside Houston, between Houston and Galveston...I heard the news, and was heartbroken...So sorry for the officer, and his family, who had the dog...Hope the judge is a real animal lover, and gives the dirt bag who did this horrible thing a sentence worse than death...Life in a cell w/another animal lover...Now that would be justice.... |
