Hello everyone Our family just got our first puppy ever! She is a 4 month old beautiful little yorkie named Darcy. I am so new at this, training, bathing, food... I have so many questions. First of all, what is the best kind of shampoo to use on her? I know that yorkies tend to have sensitive skin and I want to know what kind you all use...

Welcome! You have found the greatest place! I seem to learn something on here everyday. I use CloudStar shampoo and conditioners, when I can find them and John Paul shampoos and conditioners. I also like to use conditioning sprays to freshen up and keep mats out in between baths. I usually bath once a week or two in the summer, but in the winter months I do not bath as much b/c she seems to battle with dryer skin.

Thank you so much, I just can't believe that I never considered myself a dog person and got her more for the kids, but let me tell you, in just 4 days time, she has stolen my heart, I love her soooo much! I'll post more pics soon :-)

Well, stealing hearts is what they do best! LOL Kudos to you for starting your learning process so early. I was guilty about not doing that. I didn't find YT until I had a problem, but they took me in and have helped sooooooo much!

LOL, well, lets just say I am "trying" to start the learning process... he he... I did cave on the second night of crate training and let her out and let her sleep with me... now she cries when I put her in the crate! It was just sooo pitiful! She knows she has me wrapped around her little paw already...

Welcome to YT! This is a wonderful site! I use Biogroom shampoo and conditioner. You can go to their website and request free samples. They sent me 5 bottles. I don't know if you already know this or not, but never use a collar on your furbaby to take her for a walk. Always use a harness.

| Welcome to YT, I use oatmeal shampoo and love it. She has dry skin and that helps with it. Also give the less the better for giving her a bath. When it comes to dogs you are trying to keep the oil in and the more you bath them the more you gett eh oil out... Good luck with everything!!! and don't be afraid to ask tons of questions I am sure lots of people are happy to help!!!!!!!!!

Oh my, I've been using a collar, why do I need to use a harness? See, I feel like a terrible doggie mommy!! So much to learn and I'm worried I'm going to do something wrong and hurt her!

You're welcome. You can also get samples from Mink Sheen. I got some for Louis, but haven't tried it yet. I really like the biogroom. The conditioner works really well and it smells really good.

| Hi and welcome to YT! You'll definitely learn alot here on YT. Oatmeal shampoo is highly recommended to help with dry skin or to keep it from drying. I was told that you really didn't need to bath but like every 3 weeks or so. I usually give my baths every 2 weeks as they just get a little stinky for my. I, however, use a medicated shampoo and conditioner from the vet because Hot Rod does have dry skin issues. Lots to learn and enjoy. Congrats on your new baby.

Welcome! I use an oatmeal shampoo and have a yummy smelling oatmeal leave-in moisturizer I get from the vet. I spray it on her every couple of days or if her skin seems dry and she is scratching. We only use a harness also.
