| Temporarily evil?? I have no idea what just happened, or why. My *always* sweet, gentle JoJo turned into a different, EVIL dog a little while ago. I was trying to get him to lay down so we can go to bed, and normally he snuggles up beside me and falls asleep. Tonight however, he suddenly got a huge surge of energy right at that moment and jumped off the bed and began to chew the metal bed frame. He's never done that before. Another thing he's never done is bark and growl at me...yet that's what he did when I said "No", and he showed his teeth! But the worst part was when I went to take a sock out of his mouth that he'd gotten out of the basket. Normally he'll try to hang on to it, eventually relinquishing the item. This time he growled at me really loud and then he bit me HARD! He even drew blood on two of my fingers! He has NEVER bitten me before and it freaked me out. Then he ran out into the hallway and started running around the house like he was on speed...just randomly running all over like a maniac. I didn't know what to do (at this point I wished I had his crate that I'd forgotten at my dad's house, at least just to calm him down and for me to stop freaking out). I finally caught him and brought him back to bed with me and as quickly as it began, he calmed down and returned to his normal, sweet self. Literally like a switch was turned off. As I'm typing this (laptop on my bed) he's snuggled up in my lap and has been licking me. Actually, now that I look down at him he's sound asleep. What happened to my dog during that half hour?? He's been with me and only me for the past week, and absolutely nothing has changed with his diet, routine, etc. Again, he is 15 months old and he's NEVER EVER done this before. He is the normally sweetest dog I've ever had! Although the episode is over, I'm still very concerned and still freaking out. Can anyone please shed some light on this "temporary" crazy behavior?

| The running around like crazy thing is the zoomies, they can't control themselves and they run at 100 mph, kind of funny to watch. I don't know about the biting thing, did he seem like he was playing? Capone growls when he is playing but I can definitely tell its play growl.

What is it with socks? hehe. mine steals my boyfriends socks all the time. when she has them we will play and tug with her for a little bit then say "drop", when she lets go of the sock we will trade with one of her toys. we will also hold her down for about 10 seconds when she gets a little too rough. As long as she isnt bitting (which she has done) I love her little energy bursts or "zoomies" (there is a coffee shop near me with that name). You know what I think the worst is? it dosnt hurt your skin as much as it hurts your feelings when your baby bites you. I bet its just a case of terrible (dog year) teens. hopfully they will grow out of it. Good luck

| The zoom zomms crack me up! I don't know how they keep from running in to things and hurting themselves, but they seem to be able to make a split second change of direction in an instant. Kind of scares me sometimes. My dog will go from the top of the sofa, down the hall, on the bed, turn around and back to the top of the sofa then down and around again! My new little puppy is also exhibiting the aggressive behaviors you are describing. When I scold her she sets back and barks at me. I scolded her the other night and she lunged at me and bit my lip/nose. She is definitely an Alpha personality. But, I have news for her!! I take her and turn her on her back and hold her down for a few seconds and I get right in her face and show her MY teeth when she acts like this. She is getting better but she is strong willed too. I bet it is funny to watch too, LOL, she brings out the animal in me.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Roxy has had the zoomies since she was a pup! I LUV it! How they can rival the speed of a Nascar race, I don't know, but it' fun & seems to be very normal. Is this the first he's had this behavior? Most of her zoomies spells have been at night shortly before bedtime. Once she's gotten rid of that energy, she calms right down & is ready for bed. Enjoy the zoomies! Roxy has also had some naughty moments but hasn't growled or bitten us. It's something I don't tolerate, & will either gently hold her down until she is quiet for about 15 seconds or side track her with toys. I hope you are able to get a handle on this so it doesn't become a habit.

| I don't think the zoomies (we call it frapping at our house) is bad behavior but teeth growling and biting definitely are. Any time a dog does this they are challenging you. You need to as quickly as possible get a firm hold of them and flip them onto there backs hold them their strongly with your hand on there chest and say no really low like a growl. Hold them their until there body goes limp-like, this shows they have submitted. Seems mean, but be firm and never rough. You are the pack leader and need to show them at the first signs of aggressive behaviour. You would be amazed how well it works and soon just a low NO is enough and you don't have to flip them over...but for real bites you must "pin" them like a mother dog or pack leader would. I think frapping or zoomies is adorable though.

| oh I miss the zoomies My youngest hasn't done this very much since she hit the 1year mark it is hallarious. She would get a little agressive sometimes too but not with me, with poor Copper, he is twice her size so he could handle it or sometimes she would get him into the zoomie mode too It is very normal, some just get more carried away then others. But still be firm with the biting and mean growls

| Thanks everyone. I'm relieved to hear this is fairly normal and not what I had originally feared--that my dog has turned evil! Yeah, the biting part did hurt my feelings more than anything, since I was so shocked that my baby would actually clamp down on me so hard. Like I said, it was only this one isolated incident, so hopefully it won't happen again. Oh, and he's back to his normal lovable self today. It's hard to stay mad at the little booger!
