| Please HELP I need SLEEP! I have had penny for a while now and she has started a strange behavior at night that is really bothering me. 3-4 times a night she will wake up from her sleep and start barking histerically for absolutely no reason?? I cant figure out what it is that is bothering her and it is worrying me. Also I cant sleep because we sleep in the same room. Please help... does anyone have any suggestions. This is the fourth night in a row she is doing this. |

| Is she sleeping with you in bed or in a crate? Is it possible she has to go to the bathroom? You might try taking her outside or to her potty pad. Franklin and Maggie sleep in our kitchen and for a while Franklin would wake us up in the middle of the night because he wanted out. We tried taking him outside.. he didn't have to potty. Just wanted to play, I guess. Anyway, at first we would bring him into our room and let him sleep with us but then I decided I wasn't going to baby him so we got some earplugs and let him bark it out. It took a couple of nights where we didn't get much sleep but we just didn't budge. He eventually got the idea. Now he sleeps all through the night until around 7 or so when he wakes up and has to potty. After everyone potties they get full run of the house.

| She does sleep with me in bed. I will try the potty thing, but it doesnt sound like a potty bark (she doesnt bark when she has to potty anyways) its more of an alarming bark. BUT I will try the potty idea. Hopefully that will solve this. |

| oh my goodness we went throught that with KImbo! We started to exercise him more in the evening and feed him dinner an hour later. We also make sure we sleep with a fan on. That way he doesn't hear every little noise and become alarmed. The barking lasted for 1 or 2 weeks and he finally started sleeping through the night again. Good luck!

| I have this problem too...she was all fine from baby until last month, she started to bark at night for no reasons, just wouldn't let me sleep, the situation is almost the same with you I guess. I tried so many ways, try to make her stop barking but she just wouldn't care. Out of so many methods, only one works. I hold her in my arms every night start from around 8pm something, I put her on my laps and I bring her together when I walk (at home), until 11pm ++, I put her on my chest, she's very sleepy and I wouldn't let her sleep, when she closes her eyes, I will tickle her, when she closes her eyes again I kiss her nose, keep her engaged until she's really tired and sleepy, after that I put her to her bed, off the light there she barks again... but only for a very short while because her eyelids are heavy and she needs to sleep! I remember someone told me a tired dog is a happy dog :P |
