something to think about - years ago a bird flew close to the ground in my yard and Chanel jumped 2 feet in the air and caught it - then she ran around the yard with me chasing her. I don't think she wanted to eat it but it was more like she scored a moving toy and was pretty proud of herself.

A few weeks later Cheri caught a baby bird learning to fly - same thing - she took off running in circles with her new 'toy'

sorry to say - neither bird made it.

I know....I posted it only so you can be careful. Yorkies are little hunters and also very playful. If something moves they react on instinct. Since your bird is a pet - that's why I posted to you.

and u know what, the birdy got a charactor too!when she's on desk, she just picks up every single mails and tosses them onto the floor...

I grew up with a German Shepard that was an outside dog and he caught birds all the time.

We have an African Grey (Lola) whose cage door is always opened during the day. The parrot basically stays inside the cage but then will come out and play on top of the cage where she has a play gym. Every once in a while she'll go down to the floor to check out Piper. Piper and the parrot get along well and Piper has no aggression towards the parrot. Piper loves everything and everybody. I worry more that Lola will hurt Piper because that parrot has attitude.
