advice/opinions needed(considering a playmate for Turky)

I have been contemplating getting a brother for Turk for the past few months(another yorkie, of course ). However, I am torn. Turk still hasn't 'graduated' from his designated area without supervision as he still likes to be a bit of a stinker and sometimes gets himself into trouble. My biggest issue is that he still wants to mark a certain spot and is quite the chewer. I would consider him to be housebroke for the mostpart, but he is extremely stubborn and still occasionally has "accidents"(no matter how many times a day I take him out). This concerns me. I'm not sure if bringing in another dog would add to the problem or perhaps improve his behavior(I sometimes wonder if boredom might be an issue).

Turk is extremely playful(he's 1.5 YO). IF I choose to follow thru with this, I would really prefer to adopt. Preferably an older dog...approximately 2-3 YO. I want what's best for Turk and his potential buddy. I'm apprehensive because I know what a huge commitment this is and part of me feels a tiny bit uncertain I could handle 2 spunky yorkies.

People are always telling me that 2 are easier than one and I can see how that may be true, but what if it's not in my case? lol

I'm very interested to hear your thoughts/opinions on this. Thank you for your time.

Having two for us made our lives easier. Chip was constantly demanding (yes, demanding) our attention. We couldn't even sit down for five seconds without having him getting into something or wanting to play or dropping a toy or throwing a fit, etc. We got Smokey by chance... we weren't looking really. My friend's mom called me and said her friend had a yorkie that desperately needed a home and I went to pick him up the next day, but anyways, having Smokey around allowed both of them to play together rather than Chip just always wanting us, which in turn tired them out more and there was more quiet and peace in the house. Of course, which two, there is a lot more noise during play time too. Seriously, I love having two dogs. It does take some adjustment initially and there can be some jealousy issues at first that need to be worked through with the dogs, but all in all, I'd recommend it.

Your reply is very helpful and appreciated, Ashley V. Your Chip sounds a lot like Turk. He thinks we are here for his amusement and for no other reason. lol I imagine that it would take a good bit of adapting, but I am willing to work thru it if I know it will have a positive outcome for all. Turky is neutered and there is one particular little guy I have my eye on who is neutered as well. I don't even know if I will get the privilege of having the little guy, but he looks like a great fit for us. I just want to get as much input as possible and do my homework.

We added Dylan about 5-6 weeks after we got Chloe. Chloe was very needy and seemed like she needed a puppy to play with. We have also have an old cat, and older sheltie that didn't want to play with her and she had a LOT of energy and puppy love to give. We played with her for hours every day but something was missing ....until we got Dylan. They are inseparable now. She is the alpha dog and bosses him around. Dylan is a lovebug, I think he'd be happy if he could spend his life in my lap and giving kisses. They are both completely different and nicely compliment each other. This is the first time I have more than one yorkie at the time and it is wonderful.
Also when I was debating to add a second puppy it was recommended to me to get a boy for my girl. more people have problems with boy/boy girl/girl combos - they fight. Good luck with your decision
