Just some more info. Reputable breeders never allow their pups to go home at holiday time. Too risky. The stress of relocating to a new home, pups do go off food for a bit and need to be monitored closely. Also, the hustle and bustle of holidays, we at times get busy and forget to monitor those pups. People are in and out of our homes, doors can be left opened. People wanting to handle your pup; hyperglycemia, or worse yet a young child dropping your pup. I know you are excited about that new addition....but, I'm sure you want the best for whatever pup you bring home.

Yes defintely I do, I guess I could wait then, I didn't think about all that thank you so much for putting it into prospective. I guess b/c I am finally going to have the funds to get one, its getting me excited. I will wait till after Christmas then... I really shouldnt be in a rush to get one...just excited

Doesn't mean you can't put a deposit down on a pup that is perfect for you, just tell the breeder for the benefit of the pup you prefer to bring it home after the holidays. Better for you and the pup.

I think I will do that, makes sense. I would rather have a healty puppy then one that could possibly get sick and end up costing me more money then they already are...

Have you attempted to contact Bill Hinds/Riverwalk. He's in San Antonio.....I don't know if he has puppies available. You can find his contact info on YTCA.org breeder referral page.

I consider my Izzy a rescue. A breeder was selling her a lot less than she would have normally gone for. When I saw her, my heart sank. She was terrified, too young, infested with fleas and her gums were as white as snow. I explained the situation to the lady, and she looked at me and said that "If you don't buy her, then someone else will." I knew instantly that she didn't care about anything but the money. Well, when I got her home she wouldn't eat, and I had to rush her to the vet. When the vet saw her, she gave her a shot of B12 for energy, treated her for the fleas, and de-wormed her again. Well, shortly after that, she had kennel cough. This lasted almost 3 months. She is finally healthy.

yes I did and he responded, he didnt say he had any future litters planed at the time and only had one older puppy available. At the time that I spoke to him (email) I was not ready to get one. So I just let that go.

You might want try again, if he doesn't have any litters, he most certainly help you in leading you to good breeders. It's nice to initiate communications with an e-mail, but following up with a phone call tells the breeder you are truely interested. Most of us won't tell you that we have pups available until you've answered some preliminary questions.

By the way Bill is a pesonal friend of mine, I know his breeding and breeding practices. He also sits on the YTCA Board.
