YAY for the COPS !! YAY for the COPS - when they asked HER if she wanted to sit in that hot car and she said NO - I wanted to push her onto the seat and say YES YOU DO and how do YOU like it !!

it just shows you she knew how hot it was -

that was a DARLING DARLING little yorkie ! What a cutie ....how could she leave him in the car while she works out ?

I've left Nala in the car before but only to run in and drop a moive off and go to a coke machine and the AC is always on full blast. I'm doing this from memory, so I may be a little off in the facts: The officer said it's against the law to leave a dog in a car longer than 10 minutes without adequate ventilation and water when the temp is over 80 degrees in the car. He said an outside temp of 70 degrees can create an inside temp of 100.

This woman's car had an inside temp of 100 degrees, and she was gone for at least 30 minutes at a health club. She received a citation and was required to get a report from a vet within an hour to make sure the dog was OK.

The only thing I didn't like is the officer didn't appear to give the dog ANY WATER!

I've left Eddie in the car slightly longer than 10 minutes but not in anywhere near that kind of heat. Still, I'm going to be more careful after seeing how hot a car can get in relatively mild temperatures.

I do however, leave Pebbles in the car on cool days when I run to the grocery store or other short errands. She loves to go bye bye and she doesn't mind staying in the car at all. She has her blanket and a toy and she just sleeps in the seat until I get back. Of course, I always lock the doors so nobody will take her. I always bring her a treat back from the store too and she is always super excited to get that!

Just be careful because there have been many situations where theives have broken the window of the car and taken the dog because they know the value of a cute yorkie. I won't even leave mine to be groomed becuase they have been stolen from the groomers' as well. Yorkies are very sought after and I have heard are the most commonly stolen dog.

Yes, that was horrible... did anyone notice the caption on the bottom? "A terrier cooks in an overheated car." COOKS? I hope that lady sees that and undertands what she did!

Hubby got a fan that runs off lighter if we have to leave her in! Most the time if I run in the store without her I leave on air cond. and water! if we are going to be some where for a long time I leave her home. i hate it when there is a tornado warning and they won't let me bring her to shelter so i won't go now! I understand some people are alergic to animals but they need to be safe also. I was so sad one year to find a dead horse on the road after a tornado hit!

I have to admit, I have left my dog in the car before. However I left my car running with the air conditioner, parked in shade and had those sun blocker things in the window. Plus food and water. I even notified the people at the place we were at that in case someone asked, or if they noticed anything that we had the car, locked, running becasue of our furbaby. Luckily we were also in a postion to check on her every few minutes.
I would have never left a dog like that though. People just dont seem to think.
