Shoes what does everyone use for shoes? Do you buy them or do you make them? I'm wondering if I should buy Odie some or try making some. His legs are so skinny and every kind of shoe I've tried on him fly off as soon as he gets going. He is such a big baby too, he won't walk in snow and if he does, he'll last a few minutes then he rolls over and kicks his feet in the air crying. lol. |
1 Attachment(s) I bought our Derby these shoes, but the colors a bit different. Exact same style though. If the shoes are "flying off" then you didn't get the right size, or maybe not a good enough quality shoe. In order for them to walk in the shoes they must be both the right size and the right fit. The bottoms on these shoes are amazing for traction (and protection from the salt and stuff), and Derby doesn't seem to mind them at all. We've been practicing! I'm not too sure if I would make the boot myself. |
I'm going today to look at PawZ, they are disposable and come in packs of 12. If I think they're any good, I'll let you know!:) |

The only ones I've seen were huge... even the xxs. I can't imagine Roxy being able to keep them on & she's not even a teacup. Still looking, but don't know if she'll use them even if I find some. She has decided she likes clothes though, so maybe there's some hope. |

Okay, thanks. :) I will re-measure as well and keep on the look out for shoes. |

We tried them on Derby and he hated those more because of the way they stuck to his feet. The shoes we bought him came in actual sizes (0 to 8) and TRUST ME, they came super TINY. If you see the size 0's OMG lol Here is the website of the shoes - and the Shoes list where you can order. They are located in California, and we got ours in Toronto, Ca so they are found everywhere EPIKS Shoes - EPIKS.net We got ours at dog store for $10 cheaper than the site, and for an extra $30 you could buy a pack that allowed you to get a single replacement dog shoes if you lost one. We chose just to get the pack for the cheaper price assuming we aren't going to lose one LOL Keep in mind too that if it your dog's first time wearing shoes they will freak out a bit... some dogs are more comfortable then others, so it is normal for them to spaz. However, once they get use to them it won't be so bad. Just don't leave them on too long at first. As posted on their site Quote:

Both the epiks and pawz are great dog shoes, but it really depends on what you are looking for as they are two completely different things. The paws are better for protecting against salt on the road during the winter, pesticides on the grass, oils, etc. They are not good for protection against rocks, rough terrain. They are good because a dog can still feel the ground so they may not be as against them. The epiks are great for protecting against rough terrain, hot pavement, etc. There are more to them, so a dog may take a little longer to get used to them. Hope that helps! |
I found the Epiks for $39 on ebay. I am thinking about getting boots for Uni, since she tore up for back nail from pulling/hopping on her harness. Do you think it will help? Or will it just give her more traction to pull harder? epiks shoes, great deals on Pet Supplies on eBay! |

Where can I get a pair of these boots? Perhaps my girl will tolerate them. Sizing my be a problem if I have to order from website. |
Neopaws I just bought the neopaws. I will let you know how they are. I also bought the neo rainsuit. Not real cute, but will keep her clean when I take her to the dog park in the snow and rain. She loves going there so much. But, the weather has been so yucky, I hardly take her, because it is a major clean up every time. So with the boots and the suit, it should be a good winter. The videos on the website look like they can really move in the shoes and the suit, so she will be happy. I have been using the disposable boots and she does not mind them at all! SHe still runs like crazy. WIll keep you posted! |

I wondering what size too, Zhoie is 4.5 and her paws are super skinny too. I keep watching post, maybe to get an idea on size, haha. It's hard when you have to order on line. |
I bought the Epiks boots , my girls loved them very much . |
I just bought Fergie a pair from Walmart yesterday for $8. I'm sure they won't hold up very long but they will do until after the holidays. It was hilarious to watch her try and walk in them at first! |

Why don't you go to a store and get them sized? That's what we did. I checked Derby's shoes and he is a size 3. |
No, stores around here to get them sized. Petsmart & Petco, is all that is here. |
If you on the Epiks Website and click on the shoe you want to "buy" (as in not buying yet) there is a sizing chart right there you can click on :) |
I checked the Petsmart website, and Petco website. You guys have crap options for shoes I must say... LOL I did however google Epiks dog shoes, and there are other retailers that sell them online. Maybe you could order from them? They do offer exchanges (i checked!) if you get the wrong size...(call first, don't put a new order in) Not sure if you'd rather go with them, or the actual website. There is a price difference, but ALL SITES HAVE EPIKS SIZING CHART! These were the top 2 sites I found online... Pawhaus Boutique gooby, epiks shoes, dog shoes, dog boots, dog bout Baby Dog Style Epiks Dog Pet Shoes Red |
Yikes! $65?! I ordered the ones from ebay for $39.99 plus $5 shipping! I got them today. I got size 2. Uni is between sizes, so I didn't want to squish her feet, so that's why I sized up. She did really well with them. They do tend to twist though, like rotate a bit. We had her running around the shop and one had turned all the way around, then she looked like a ballet dancer on pointe! I'll try to upload a vid later, it was hilarious. We only put on the back ones. We needed them to protect her nails, and she wore one down so bad it bled. |

In your case it sounds like I wouldn't have gone a size bigger. Derby is supposedly between sizes too (3 and 4), but seriously, there is a bit of squish to get his paws in there (because of some hair and such too!), but then they fit like a glove! There is no movement whatsoever. We had them fitted right in the store, and they told us to get the size 3. |

My Derby is a 10 pound Yorkie but it's skinny... and wears a size 3. this baby is 1 1/2 pounds and wears a size 0! I'm pretty sure paws are still small, and you guys can find one that FITS! Wow. check out that range! |
I don't think Missy's 1 3/4, that may be a typo. That's way tiny! Anyway, I'll check with the seller if they can exch them for a size 1 then. I think they offer exchanges. |
Quote:
I would see if you could exchange, but they are worn right? Maybe not. When in doubt, snug is better than big! and you'd know if they were too-too small. |

and honestly, the transition from regular paws to dog shoes? not even 5 minutes. I think if you exchange the size, your dog will be much happier! Mine prances around like a hot shot LOL Snow! / Salt! Dirty Toronto streets! you don't bother meeeee! |
