Should I keep him I recently got a new pup, 9 weeks old. I have a large labradoodle currently. I like the little guy, he's cool and has some guts to fight with my larger dog. But, I am not gay, but feel I got a dog that connects to gay guys. I just don't wanna handle that stereotype, if it exists. Def would not let little man have the long hair. He does have an alternative home. Advice? Sad to ask, yea. |
Your kidding right? A yorkie does not mean you are gay. The yorkies are a very loving and loyal dogs and who cares what your friends think. He's gonna grow up and get bigger. How big depends on how big his parents were. You just need to keep and eye on him and your larger dog, you don't want to have any accidents. Keep your baby and enjoy him. |
How sad... Owning a yorkie does not make you gay. If you thought this, why would you have purchased the pup in the first place? I say, if you are willing to give up your dog because of the image he portrays... find him a better home. He deserves better! |
What I wanna know is.. why do you care if people think you are 'gay' because you own a yorkie? Is there a problem with that stereotype? I mean, if a guy came to you because of your dog and asked you out, are you incapable of setting that record straight by saying no? lol Sorry if this seems blunt or forward and I really don't mean any offense, I just don't really understand what the problem is. I just hope that the dog isn't literally "fighting" with your other dog, and is just playing with it. Because if they are fighting that is a bad sign and should probably give the dog to the alternative home. Or if you are that worried about your image to other people because you own a yorkie (not to mention you can always say it's you're gf/wifes dog if it bothers you THAT much) then maybe you should rehome the dog to that alternative home and work on not caring what other people think of you. Because the issue is with the dog and not you, i.e. whether the dog is in a loving home that will love and care for it. If you provide that then that is all that matters, not someone thinking you are gay lol. |

With that on your mind why would you even get the dog in the first place, Yorkies or any other small dog has nothing to do with if your gay or not... I would worry about letting the little dog fight with your bigger one. it only takes one bite from a bigger dog to kill such a small one. |
This guy has to be putting us on! :D |

My boyfriend absolutely refused to let me get a Yorkie at first because they were "girly" dogs. No way was my big macho man going to be seen with a little 7lb puppy with clothes on. Turns out he's a bigger sap than I am and I can assure you he's NOT gay. Now I come home and he's cuddling on the couch with the puppies and baby talking them. He's even said that if he's ever single again he's keeping one of them because of all of the female attention he gets when we are out in public with the dogs. Not to mention that a labradoodle isn't quite the picture of a manly-man either.... |

Oh my goodness....I think most people have already said what I wanted. You don't deserve the love of a yorkie. |
I say find a home that will appreciate him. Why did you get a yorkie in the first place? |
There's a lotta big guys on this site that might just take ya out! Seriously...dial the number of the person that wants him and give him a loving home. |
Im glad My Husband doesnt think that way. He loves our two to pieces and doesnt care what anyone thinks |

I'm a straight guy & the proud owner of 3 Yorkies. They're chick magnets. Can you deal with that :) ? |
You need to give this little guy away, because if you think having a yorkie makes you look gay,... well every one told you better then I can. Boy are you on the wrong site:thumbdown. |

I really shouldn't respond to such nosense...but I will. Yes, I think you should rehome your yorkie. He deserves a home where he can be loved and respected. You may want to read some info about homosexuality...owning a yorkie has nothing to do with whom you sleep...THAT makes you gay, depending on your choice. Are you kidding me!!!! I agree will all of the other posters...why did you get a yorkie in the first place??? If your yorkie is within AKC standard, he'll always be small...under 7 pounds. You knew that, didn't you? I get so ill when people make irresponsible choices, at the sake of someone or something else. This thread has got to be a joke; it's too incredulous to be taken seriously, so I won't. |

IMO you should rehome your yorkie. He deserves better. |
The pup is only 9 weeks old which is too young for a Yorkie pup to leave the breeder. It will need extra special care & attention. Are you up to providing the care? |

LOL!!! :p Exactly!!! I have grown sons who think on the same silly lines as this. They (meaning manly-man guys who think silly thoughts) mean well but are just average guys with sometimes silly ways of thinking. I understand what he's feeling. He likes the Yorkie, probably loves him but is embarrased by being so smitten from a tiny size gladiator...LOL To the OP...keep him, love him and get over that silly mind set, because he will give you more in return than the Labradoodle. You won't regret it. |
OMG - come on people. He's just looking for some positive re-enforcement that it's ok to love a little furry kid vs a big furry kid! Buckeyedude - it is absolutely OK. My husband is far from gay and is putty in Mia & Max's hands. I couldn't tell you how many men I have seen with Yorkies or Chi's around here - and I mean MACHO men. Infact, you'd be surprised at how many Harley riders I see with Yorkies... it's sooo cute! (my hubby included) If you love that baby - keep him!!! Don't forget to post pictures :D |
