Thanks for the Laugh!

I am certain that your post is a joke. I'd seriously be concerned if a dog could make you doubt the strength of your own sexuality. Anyway, if you were serious, I would suggest you rehome your Yorkie. They are loyal, loving, and so much fun. Your dog deserves a home where it's well being and happiness is more important than your sexual identity. If you were joking, thanks, you got us all awake and revved up for the day. Keep us posted on your decision.

rilysmom 11-20-2009 08:33 AM

I'll take him off your hands.....my DH is retired/disabled military, 300 lbs and very manly. He loves our two furbutts. He hates when I take Rily's shirt off and don't immediately put another one on. He is as proud of ours as I am, maybe more! So Pm me, I'm sure we can work something out if you are SERIOUS! ;)

violet voon 11-20-2009 08:50 AM

Ooh MY!!
It's not good to think that way, owning a Yorkie doesn't mean you are gay. I'm sure you will find a lot of Yorkie Papa over here ;))

spiritwings1202 11-20-2009 08:50 AM

A Yorkie is a big dog in a lil body and why would you:confused: even think that way?
When you get a dog it should be for the right reasons!
Gosh I hope change your thinking!

bildio 11-20-2009 08:57 AM

The OP is obviously not MAN enough to respond to any of the comments, or maybe it's nap time :).

Gizmo Baby 11-20-2009 08:59 AM

You guys give this poor guy a break! I think he came on here for reassurance that no he doesn't look gay with a little dog and it's ok to keep him and love him, how many of our husbands or boyfriends made the same comment not wanting a small dog because they would not look macho lol including mine you guys should see the big Italian macho man picking up his little pwincess and cuddliing her yes even in public lol. The first time we went to obediendce classes with her she was tiered and fed up by the end and wanted to be picked up of course daddy picked her up imidiately a lady with a 3 lbs yorkie scolded him and said whats wrong with you she's a dog not a doll put her down he just looked at her and said well she is my doll so I'll do as I wish with her lol.

So to the op go ahead and keep him and don't be afraid to show your love for him.

Hmm, we just got our third Yorkie over the course of 12 years, and my hubby has never been approached by a gay man whenever he was out with one of them. However, he has been approached by LOTS of women!

Who you attract is determined by the signals YOU send out, not your dog. Man up.

yorkie_mama22 11-20-2009 09:54 AM

If having a yorkie makes you a gay guy. I must be a lesbian or transgender because I have a manly BULL TERRIER . :p:p:p

Your not gay if you have a yorkie, you are going to be attracting alot of girls thats for sure.

Infact, you'd be surprised at how many Harley riders I see with Yorkies... it's sooo cute! (my hubby included) If you love that baby - keep him!!!

Don't forget to post pictures :D

Exactly. I was trying to convey the same sentiment in my reply. YES, keep the Yorkie. Like others have said, they're great chick magnets ;)

I can't believe how heated you ladies get on these threads. CALM DOWN. Everything is going to be okay. :) After reading this thread and a couple others on the General Discussion forum I'm beginning to see why some people have a less than wonderful view of small dogs and particularly small dog owners. There is no need to get so defensive.

tdavis60302 11-20-2009 10:36 AM

I am a guy and I own a yorkie and I am not gay. These dogs are really great! just find a better home for ur puppy cause when u do walk ur dog u are going to worry what ppl are saying about u as u walk ur puppy.:thumbdown

Kshetreyya 11-20-2009 10:59 AM

While I wonder if this is a joke, I'm going to respond anyway.

Owning a yorkie, or any other small breed of dog, does not make you gay, anymore than going to the garage makes you a car. If you really love this little guy, keep him and don't worry about what other people think. Honestly, if someone else thinks you are gay because of the kind of dog you have, I'd wonder about their sexuality WAY more than yours.

If you cannot get past what other people might think, then I think he should be rehomed. He deserves a person who isn't embarrassed about loving him.

Blessings.

RoxyLuv 11-20-2009 11:29 AM

Recently I saw an old western movie on TV. One of the cowboys had a yorkie with him allll the time. When he & his friends took off to ride their horses somewhere, he'd stick the yorkie in his shirt & off they went. Took him everywhere! At home he even had a special swing on his porch he'd sit the dog in. Cowboy was a very manly man & no one heckled him at all or questioned the guys manhood. Of course it was fiction, but made a good point.

Watch Dog Whisperer (Nat Geo) & It's Me or The Dog (animal planet). You'll find manly men w/little dogs & really care about them.

Last winter we took Roxy to buy warm jackets. Found a pink velour hoodie I couldn't resist. At that point (she was a pup) I hadn't wanted to push the pink thing on DH too much. She left the store wearing her new pink jacket. DH puffed up his chest & proudly carried her through checkout & out the door. He always thought little dogs were worthless rats. Now he worries over her, doesn't like to come home if she's not here to give him her happy greeting, takes naps w/her, takes her for bike rides... also in his big tractor. Roxy has wrapped his heart right around her little finger, & he's really enjoying her happy little self.

With yorkies hair growing, you can butch him up however you like. There's even some cute boys clothes. The others are right... yorkies are great girl magnets! You just need to be secure w/your manhood.

lgoodall 11-21-2009 11:52 AM

Should I keep him

Give me a break! Real men aren't afraid
to own a small dog.. They're secure enough with their manhood to not worry about that. I've had back problems, and I tend to casrry a purse that is much too heavy. I try to carry a lighter one when I'm out shopping. Sometimes, I forget. When I do, and my husband sees me struggling with the heavy one, he will take it from me, and carry it himself. Now, that's a real man. He's also a former high school and college football player. Tucker's Mom

QuickSilver 11-21-2009 12:00 PM

I have to agree, yorkies are chick magnets... unfortunately.

gemy 11-21-2009 01:26 PM

\well maybe this post was a joke. He hasn't responded yet. I support others views that "what" you walk has no reflection on your manhood. I support rehoming this little one if you can't wholeheartedly love him.

I think we should cut the guy a break too. Guys worry about things like this. My teenage son REFUSES to walk Lucy in her pink harness and leash because he probably would get made fun of! He reluctantly walks the Westie (whom he picked out BTY).

I have a gay friend who won't even get a yorkie even though he loves Lucy because (and this is a direct quote) "you can't get any gayer than that".

Now I disagree w/this sentiment and my happily married neighbors have a little Yorkie . . . but that is exactly what he thought.

I don't have to worry about my macho image.:)

And congrats to those guys who who are man enough to not worry about it!

Namor 11-21-2009 05:06 PM

Do you love him???

First question . . . . Do you love him? Second: Did you know that a yorkie is a chick magnet????? (With the right man)

ZoeyGirlsMoM22 11-21-2009 08:33 PM

My husband is about 6'4''. Our Zoey girl is about 4 1/2 lbs. It is quite funny to watch him walk her. He doesn't care. He knows who he is and he loves Zoey. He always meets other guys out walking their "small" breed doggies and they are all either married or have gf's. They have a quick giggle, the dogs play, and that's it. They go on with their walk.

Besides, your pup has an aggressive, rough and tumble typical boy personality it seems. He sounds entertaining and fun! I would keep him. ;)

I would have to agree................I have 3 men in my house that LOVE our little yorkies! My middle son who's 20 is always trying to talk me into letting him take one of them for a ride to pick up girls  He would even let me put a cute sweater on them if he knew he could get the attention of a girl :p The other day he said that he wanted to take Bogey for a ride in his pickup and that he would like to use the car seat to make sure that the girl could see hi:rolleyes: Gotta love my son :)

Lesley Carol 11-22-2009 02:17 AM

My DH is 6ft 7ins tall and all man! We have a yorkie and a golden doodle (retriever / poodle X) - and if anything, his relationship with them shows that he has absolutely NO problem with his sexuality. They're his babies as much as they are mine, and I can confirm that he is absolutely not gay!

Gennies 11-22-2009 06:22 AM

OP,
Please, don't be offended by all the negative replies, we love our yorkies so much that sometimes we are too protective of them. I'm sorry that you got some rude comments, and can understand why you may chose not to reply, but please come back. We're all human and sometimes speak without thinking things through. After all we don't know you and don't know if you going through the difficult teenaged years of life. But I assure you that you've got supporters here too.

I understand where your question maybe coming from, after all some gay men have been kill by straight men that they didn't even know, but because the straight men thought the guy was gay they killed him. So you can never be too careful. But trust me if you keep your yorkie in a short terrier cut most people are too stupid to realize that he is a yorkie. And yorkies have such spunk that he will hardly be thought of as a sissy dog :D

If you love this little man and can truly give him the best home possible, then raise your new best friend and be proud of him.

Buckeyedude 11-22-2009 07:14 AM

Hello, thanks for the responses. This was not a joke question. I had a question, so I asked it. I am not offended by any of the responses. In short, I find I am too busy for a small new pup and I am giving to a friend that can give him the attention needed. Alls good my friends.

BanditSocks2 11-22-2009 07:22 AM

Sounds like a good solution for all involved

I'm so glad that you've realized this now. I'm sure it was hard to let him go, but it's the best thing that you could do for him!! Thank you for looking out for the puppy's needs over your own. (((((((Hugs))))))

MauiGirl 11-22-2009 09:51 AM

Glad to know the pup is moving on, and I sure hope he's going to a good home that will really treasure him.

Makes you wonder why the OP got this pup in the first place. Why can't people take getting a dog more seriously and be prepared to make a long term commitment to the pet?

I don't understand why this comment was necessary. He made a mistake, owned up to it, and fixed it. There is no need for any further catty comments.
