Hmmmm. Sounds like you are certainly between a rock and a hard place. I have no experience with pet store pets but have always read and heard they can have serious health issues. I hope this is the worst of your new baby's problems. :( I too am curious as to why purchase a new puppy so close to having to travel? Even if he was in perfect health traveling with a new puppy would be a ton of work and stress on your part (i.e. potty training, feeding etc) I know my vet offers short-term boarding for patients. Is this something you may have available? |
please help me I don't understand why he would not be perfectly alright if he gets over this. If everyone who developed pneumonia had lasting efects, we'd really have a problem. Besides, don't you already love him? It was "Love at First Sight" with my Yorkie. He went through a $5,000 surgery when he was 5 months old. It was a congenital defect, but returning him to the breeder didn't even enter my mind. I did let her know so she could have the mom and dad checked for the problem. She had never had the problem before. My little darling is a year old now, and the love of my life. Ps "Don;t tell my husband. He thinks he is" Tucker's Mom Please don't send him back. He would probably be destroyed. |
I just wanted to thank everyone for your advice and just wanted to let you all know that I went to the pet shop to find out the results of the chest xray yesterday, according to the vet the xray was normal but Lucas had stopped eating again 2 days ago so they had to put an IV on him and feed him through a tube, the Vet was not clearing him so they told me just to pick up the check..... I'm not sure if to beleive what's going on, maybe the xrays where not normal?? I'm now left with nothing and will never know what happened to Lucas because tje vet will refuse to give me any info since I'm not the owner anymore:(.... |

I think she already turned him back over to the Petstore. Thats probably why they wont give her medical results. I dont mean to sound cruel but he was probably euthinized. :( |

That poor sweet angel. :(:( |
Does the vet work with the pet store? If so, that was a bad situation all of the way around. They would cover for each other. There are people here on YT who can refer you to a good breeder in your area when you return from the holidays and have thought this through some more. Yorkies are wonderful dogs, but they really need owners who are knowledgeable about the breed and have the time. Please stay on YT for awhile to learn more about yorkies. There is a lot of great information here. Read, learn and think about it. When the time is right many of us will gladly help you with a new little furbutt. |
I would report them to the Better Business Bureau. That's such a sad outcome for the poor puppy :( If you're looking for a puppy I'm sure you know by now not to get it from the pet store. Many people on here are knowledgeable breeders or know breeders and could direct you from there. |
please help me Someone, please tell me she didn't take that baby back to the pet store. |

If I read her post right, the vet is in the petstore. The vet simply handed her the check back that she wrote for the puppy and is now refusing to tell her anything else about the puppy since she took the check. So, yes. The pup is now the property of the pet store once again. :( Can they do that???!!!! If I'm right, I strongly urge the OP to refuse any financial responsibility for the pup's treatment. What a sad, sad situation. This sort of pet store/vet arrangement should be illegal (if it's not already). |
I wonder if they haven't put it to sleep yet they'd be willing to give it to a rescue? We're visiting my hubbys fam which is a few towns away from the pet-store. Maybe if they feel the pressure that we know about that specific puppy and the sketchy business practices that have been going on they'd be more likely to turn it over? |

You went to check on Lucas, they said the x-rays were normal, however, he was given a feeding tube b/c he stopped eating. While he was under this vet\'s care, was he not yours? I mean had you paid for him already? I don\'t see how they can just decide to give you back your money and say your not the owner anymore...sounds shady to me. |
